SRC Leads

Anyone ever use SRC leads?

According to the person that called me, and this is why I'm asking people here, they send out surveys that people take and return with their contact info and are "dissatisfied" with their current advisor.   I don't know how legit this is, but here's how their "guarantee" works:   -They will replace any names you can't get ahold of.  -They will refund any names with incorrect information. -They will refund all your money if you don't make $5,000 per 100 names.   Cost is $2/name, minimum of 100 names.   I am not the biggest fan of scams, so anyone have any knowledge of SRC Leads?

Not sure what SRC stands for, but I have bought leads from another service (years ago) that made the same exact claim.  it was all BS.  I highly doubt they did any surveys, and I fully assumed they just got their names from another list service (i.e. InfoUSA) and marked them up.  In fact, you can go to InfoUSA and get a whole lot more names for $200.

I hear you.  You can go to the library and get names from Reference USA for free.   I'm sitting there thinking, who the hell responds to that stuff?   So I asked her, "Can I see the survey you send to people?"  She says, "No, that is proprietary information".  So I followed with, "Can you show me one of the returned surveys?"  She says, "No, that is also proprietary information".

If THEY are calling YOU, it’s bullshit. If people are making over $5,000/100 calls, then we would be begging them to sell us their leads.

Jan 28, 2009 2:10 am

I got the same call today. I just said no thanks and moved on. No way they can produce those types of leads.

Jan 28, 2009 6:18 am

They have a website… www.srcleads.com… pretty basic… I am calling tomorrow to see if I can shake more info loose, the guarantee has to be bs…

Found a guy who gave a recomendation and emailed him to get specifics..

Squash, let me make a bet with you.  I bet you that if I go to their website, you will not be able to find their physical location/address.  They are most likely the same company, reincarnated, that I have used in the past ( I think it was Prestige Management).  Same exact claim.  I’m telling you, steer clear.

Jan 28, 2009 8:10 pm

A less-experienced rep in my office asked me to split a list from SRC he purchased.  I fail to see the difference between this list and the White Pages.  That is, other than it being scrubbed.  Even then, I had a few people say to me last night they were on the DNC list.

I'm curious to find out how they intend to hold up their money-back guarantee.  How can they verify you didn't do $5k in business?  Personally, I'm inclined to agree with Hank - it's bullshit.  If they were that good, we'd all be making 20 appointments a day and commission rates would fall to zero.   The list is only as good as the person calling from it.

Not that it matters in any meaningful way but the BBB report says they’ve been in operation since 1998 and they’ve been a part of the BBB since 2001. Their current rating is a B- or

I am not going to use them, I just find it interesting when they post reco's from other reps with their whole names... do they not know you can just look them up on finra, and find their office and call them...

I will repeat what I said before.  ANY firm that claims they did some survey about people with annuities or IRA’s or crappy brokers is FULL OF SH1T.  DO NOT believe them.  They buy lists from other lists brokers, then apply “titles” to groups of people based on certain criteria.

i bought 500 names From a gentleman Named Rodney. i payed $1500.00 and he guaranteed 20,000 in commisions or fees in 90 days. I ran across a couple of tire kickers and people who forgot about the survey. But at the end of the day i did well. i made about $26,000.00. Im not going to lie. this list isn’t designed to be a winning lottery ticket and make you a millionaire. But if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and prospect you should do well. The number is (305) 749-8518

You get the exact same info from melissa leads for .10 / each. You can run searches for the same demographics. If you paid $3 / name U got burned.  They should be put out of business.

Apr 20, 2009 8:21 pm

I purchased leads from them a few years back with no results.  They called me again last month to sell more leads.  They refused to provide a copy of their survey.  I offered to start calling names on the list with the sales person on the phone so together we could ask the contacts about the survey.  No dice.

As other posters have said, if the leads were so hot, why don't they just call themselves?
Jun 13, 2009 4:27 pm

Anyone ever hear or use SeniorLeads dot com?   Hell, they’re charging $18/lead that supposedly entered their info online to receive info on specific topics like annuity buyers, LTC, Life insurance, CD buyer, IRA rollover or distribution, etc.  and you can buy leads for specific topics and zip codes.

Browsing their forum, it seems half the people don’t recall requesting the info, are not qualified anyways, or unreachable.  But some claim to be reaching about 20% of their received leads and setting maybe 5-10 appointments per 100 leads paid for.

Jun 13, 2009 5:04 pm

Seniorleads is Larry Klein, if I’m not mistaken.

Jun 13, 2009 5:10 pm

$18 sounds like a rip off, but if you pay $200 and can make $2,000 then it is worth it. Of course there is no way to tell without buying…

If they are giving you DNC people’s phone number with permission to call then it is worth it… However if might be more effective buying and income and age list for whatever zipcodes you are working and just call them.

Prestige is a huge ripoff company.  Stay far away from them.

-They will refund any names with incorrect information.

-They will refund all your money if you don’t make $5,000 per 100 names.

A GUARANTEE is only as good as their word… and from what I experienced and read by others they do not honor their agreement. I’ve waited over 4 months for a refund from a crappy list that was years old. When I called the salesman he only wanted to sell me a “better” list. SAVE your money, go somewhere else.

Nov 9, 2009 10:37 pm

ALSO CALLED SRC LIST

they say the leads are new… NOT.

they say you can easily get your money back… NOT.

try something like targetleads.com, insureme.com, 4freequotes.com or seniorleads.com

Just found your info request regarding SRC Leads.  If you haven’t found out by now, you will not want to waste your time with SRC Leads product.  Many of the names on the list were people that had died more than 10-years ago.  They have a compelling story, which is why they are still in business today.  Since they had called on me again, 10-years later, they may call on you again.  If so, simply hang up the phone and move on with your day.  Gook luck.

The funny thing is, if they just did the actual surveys and sold the positive responses, they'd make a killing selling those leads.

I only use INFO USA.  I have bought several lists from them, and their data is always very reliable.

Jun 8, 2010 2:43 pm

I received a call from SRC Lists offering the same deal as SRC Leads, but they want $3.50 per lead. The caller, named Abel Bronson, told me he was referred to me by a network contact of mine on LinkedIn.com.  Interestingly the caller from SRC Leads was named Abram. I can’t help but notice that both names have biblical reference, and both companies have the same mode of operation. Oddly, Abel mispronounced my associate’s name. So, I contacted my associate to see if he had in fact referred me. He did not! So it is clear that SRC Lists aka SRCLists.com & SRC Leads aka SRCleads.com are similar scams if not one and the same and now they are using LinkedIn to lend credibility to their scam. I’m going to do my best to make the folks at LinkedIn.com aware of the abuse with hope that I can get them barred.  All of the guarantees are the same as SRC Leads the same as those noted by other posters, and SRC Lists is also from Miami Florida. I told the caller that I had a bad experience with SRC Leads, and he explained that they were a totally different company in competition with that group...that their guarantee was good. I asked him to, to send me his contact information via e-mail. He indicated that he was sending it as we spoke, but hours later it has not yet arrived. Beware of SRC Leads, SRC Lists, and Prestige Management and its many affiliates because they do not honor their guarantee either. Bottom line, guarantees aren’t worth the paper they are written on, and good luck trying to report them to the BBB because they have learned how to manipulate the BBB’s system. There are reputable companies out there if you do your homework.

I want to WARN anyone who is considering doing business with SRC Lists or SRC Leads or whatever name they are using.  They are complete liars and you should not do business with them unless you just simply want to throw your money away.

I have been in this industry for 15 years and have never seen anything so bold to rip off financial professionals trying to grow their business.

This is what happened:

I have been contacted by several different sales reps from SRC over the past 2 years.  I first noticed a problem when one sales rep would tell me a different story from the previous sales rep.

In a nutshell they claim to send out a "survey" with credit card statements to a demographic of people making over 100k per year that have CDs coming due within 90 days and these people check boxes on this survey indicating their personal information such as the value of their home and how much they have in CDs and when they are coming due and of course putting their phone number and signing their name to indicate they would like to be contacted by a financial professional to explore their options.

THIS IS A LIE!

They will tell you anything to have you send in your credit card.

They told me they would send me the actual surveys these people filled out and this would come within a few days via UPS.  They could not however provide me with a sample copy of one single person who had filled out a survey with their program.

I also asked them for referrals of which they claimed they could not give me.  After several weeks of trying to sale me the sales rep told me that a major insurance company regularly used their leads and agreed to provide me with a referral from one of their agents and have him call me.

An agent did call me, however the only problem, was that the "agent" who called me was not the real agent, it was another sales rep from SRC impersonating a financial services professional from this major insurance company.  He lied to me about his name and told me he worked for the insurance company and had used the leads from SRC every 3 months.  It was immediately obvious to me he was lying because when I asked him a few simple questions about our industry he fumbled the answers and didn't really have any knowledge about our industry.

I asked him what branch he worked out of and he told me so when we hung up I decided to call the branch and ask to speak to the agent who supposedly had just called me.  Guess what.............he had no idea what I was talking about because it was a different person.  Later that night I called back the number the "agent" from the major insurance company had called me from and his voice mail had a different name and referenced his association with SRC.

I decided to call to speak with the branch manager and explain the fraud and how someone from SRC was impersonating one of their agents.  To my surprise the branch manager knew of SRC because the previous week she had spent $1,500 for leads from SRC.  She was FURIOUS not only because SRC was impersonating one of her agents but because she had just realized that she had also been ripped off by SRC and no one would return her calls from SRC after selling her the bogus leads.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK, LOOK AT THE OVER 400 COMPLAINTS WITH THE BBB AND ALL OF THE POSTS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF.

I CHALLENGE ANYONE FROM SRC TO COME FORWARD AND REPLY TO THIS POST.
