Intern Help
Hi all,
I've had several inquiries from college students about being a summer intern. I initially said no, but have since become intrigued with the idea. I work for Jones and I know the firm provides us with plenty of info about what an unlicensed person can't do. I would like to know what an intern can do. In specific I'd like to have the intern work the phones for me. Does anyone know what they can say to prospects, within company and industry regulations that may be effective? Any input is appreciated.No disrespect, but who cares what we have to say? Call your compliance department and see if interns are even allowed. If allowed, ask what they can and cannot do. Then ask for the names of EDJ brokers who have interns and call them to ask how they employ their interns.
Good luck!Interns are allowed. Jones has a formal program. I hosted one last year. They can’t do much more than a BOA. As Dob’ said, call HR. They can give you the program. I think there is also stuff on JonesLInk - just google “Intern”.
I’m interviewing 5 girls for a couple internships this week. I have some scripts that they will use to call from. Nobody can really call as well as we could. But, they can weed out bad #'s, fax machine #'s, potentially qualify people, invite them to seminars, ask if they would like a more hands on approach, ask if their happy with the performance and service from their advisor. They can also do mailings.
I think people will be more receptive to an outgoing girl on the phone. I will be compensating them on some level, teaching them about the business a little, and be a reference in the future. I'm still trying to figure it out too.How much are you going to compensate them? I don’t think your allowed to give performance based incentives until they are licensed.
So hourly I’m guessing.
