How do you sell your portfolio?

how do manage your portfolios and how do you sell it to your prospects?  do you sell yourself as the portfolio mananger?  do you sell the fund/sma managers track record?  do you sell your firm’s research or due diligence?

Simplicity sells. It’s never about performance or some dumb mutual fund manager story for me, if fact, I like to make fun of all of that traditional BS. If people like and trust you, they’ll probably do anything. We could make a Candid Camera video about how far folks would probably go if they like you and the nonverbal communication is real. It’s more important to make clear that they are hiring and paying me for my knowledge, experience and active service. I just saw a program on how they maintain the world’s largest container ship at sea. (Engineers rebuilding pistons and such while the ship is running). Who cares about the brand of diesel fuel?

Don't sell the portfolio, sell the process.  Use an Investment Policy Statement to "set the rules".

Google it if you've never heard of an IPS.
