Gathering email addresses at Jones

Have any of you found a time efficient means of gathering emails? I'm looking for methods less expensive than snail mail and more time efficient than door to door.

Yeah, just ask them.  Are you referrinf to clients and prospects, or people you have not yet met?  If you are talking cold e-mailing type stuff, don't bother.  But I have e-mails for every client and prospecty that uses them, and I send about 1 e-mail per month (Strategy Reports, Research Reports, etc.).  I usually get 3-5 responses every month when I send them.

But e-mail is pretty useless at a captive B/D unless you know the person already.  I never "cold e-mail" someone (without a specific purpose, like a referral or something).

You just have to get the email addresses. I use a drip campaign on emails for prospects and a lot of client reviews are scheduled on email. I find it to be more efficient as an additional way to contact but NOT as a substitute for phone calls and inperson visits.

You can get immediate feedback from email and send hundreds out per day(or more) with little cost of time or money. While it won't take the place of a phone call or F2F visit, it certainly is a more cost effective way to generate some interest and warm up your prospects. Has anyone used any email vendors?

I don't know about you, but I send unexpected emails straight to the SPAM folder. I have no desire to read crap from by doctor, dentist, attorney, mechanic and on and on. Good luck though

Good point ND. I also don't answer the phone if I can help it thanks to caller ID. And I don't answer the door to solicitors. Unfortunately, that makes building a book both difficult and expensive. Which begs the question, what is the best way to warm up your market and gather assets? 500 dials a day? No way for this FA. There has to be a better way.

It is a contact sport... the more you contact the more you win! The problem with looking for other methods is the ratio of attempts:results. You know the proven methods so don't spend too much time trying to re-invent the wheel but doing something "out of the box" may produce some results. Its like buying the FAS, you must review these rogue methods daily as to not get detached from your overall goals.
