How has this been going the past couple of weeks? I’m going to be starting back tomorrow with calling and will update. My main objective is to be consistent over time with my calling no matter what my day looks like.

Feb 15, 2016 9:07 pm

Unforunately, the first day back was a bust. A lot of ice on the roads and kids at home made calling impossible. Tomorrow will be he start!

Feb 26, 2016 5:23 pm

BTW, I’m working it, but I’m here for a group to do it with me…not interested in posting by myself, so I’m holding off until someone joins here and wants to do it together.

Where are you getting your lists?

Apr 8, 2016 6:42 pm

I am cold calling as well. I am happy to share my numbers. I have been hitting a wall lately with the current list I have…

4/7

Dials- 197
Contacts- 8
Prospects- 0
Apts set- 0

Apr 14, 2016 6:12 pm

How are you building your lists? or are you buying them?

May 6, 2016 6:57 pm

I’ll join this log

Week 1:
375 dials
61 contacts
8 suspects
0 appointments

Happy Friday

May 17, 2016 1:06 pm

Week 2:
200 dials
25 contacts
6 suspects
4 intro calls set

Didn’t get as many dials in as I wanted to but productive nonetheless.

May 20, 2016 8:22 pm

Week 3:
250 dials
33 contacts
4 suspects
0 appointments

Another hectic week, need to pick up the volume of dials. Had two follow up calls from last week. One was a total bust, second one shows potential but nothing as of now.
Happy my suspect list is starting to fill up.

TGIF - phone was a little heavy this week

Jun 3, 2016 7:58 pm

Week 4:
265 dials
41 contacts
8 suspects
3 appointments set

Pretty quiet forum…no one else dialing anymore?

Jul 19, 2016 7:16 pm

Haven’t posted in a while.

Update: Since last post
New Assets: $1.086M
Assets YTD: $2.186M
Goal: $5.00M

Last two days dialing:

Aug 3, 2016 7:57 pm

What kind of list are you calling on? And what is your pitch?

Aug 15, 2016 12:28 pm

BigEatz7 calling on corporate directories only. My pitch is “I manage the financial affairs for a group of individuals and families in the area, wanted to reach out and introduce myself and my team and see if there was any interest?” If they say no…on to the next.

Dial Log last week:
350 dials
31 contacts
9 suspects
3 meetings set

One meeting I had on Friday. Great prospect, early 40’s no kids, no debt, married, household income $300K a year, $100k in savings, $50k annuity. Set a follow up this week.

Another prospect has an $50k annuity he’s held for 15 years, hates the product wants to roll it into something else.

Anybody else dialing and having success? Any big wins?

-bullish

Aug 22, 2016 7:24 pm

Bullish14…

I’m doing literally the same thing. And having pretty similar success. Running into alot of prospects with most of their money tied up in their 401k… No real big wins yet this year.

Also - get alot of “I’m already working with someone”… Any answers for that one? Or do you just let them walk too? I havent been too pushy when I get that response…

Thanks.

Aug 29, 2016 5:33 pm

Eatz - My response to someone with another broker is “Would you ever be open to a second opinion?” Most times they say “I am happy, not right now, no thanks.” If they have been nice on the phone my response to that is “I understand, but how about this, would it be ok if I checked in with you down the road, maybe 6 months to a year to see if you’re still happy with your service?” Most people will always say yes that’s fine, so I put them on the calendar to call them in 6 months. It’s basically a way of building a quality contact list. Again, it all depends on if the person you called is worth staying in contact with.

This month has been an absolute drag…A lot of calls and no one picking up. After Labor Day things will get better. But gotta keep grinding…

Last week stats:
Calls: 375 dials
Contacts: 23
Suspects: 1
No appointments, sent out a ton of emails

I plan to drip on a lot of prospects this week, keeping myself busy.

Aug 29, 2016 8:41 pm

Nice, thanks for passing that along.

Seeing the same thing here though. August has been dead. Been blasting out alot of emails myself to my warm leads/drip list.

Sep 9, 2016 7:52 pm

Better week on the phone:
Calls: 275
Contacts: 35
Suspects: 2
Appointments: 2

It’s been tough getting people to respond to follow up appointments, send paper work, etc. This week was better. A lot more action on the phones. Two quality meetings set for next week. Looking forward to it. Happy hunting.

I cold call for a living in the financial services industry. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. If you ever want to discuss strategies feel free to call me. 513-204-7999

Oct 4, 2016 3:48 pm

You said you are using corporate directories, how do you go about getting them, or how did you acquire them in your specific case ?

Oct 17, 2016 1:14 pm

amz91: I use a list broker. I won’t tell you who I use. That’s your job to find one. I try to stick to publically traded companies in my area. It can get expensive, but find a guy in the office and split it with him.

Last week with holidays was tough on the phone. Made about 300 dials, a few contacts, no real prospects. It has been difficult acquiring assets the last few months. Realistically, I’d like to try to close on $400k in assets by next month of smaller accounts in the pipeline.

Happy Monday, keep grinding.

bullish these are great numbers. You are very consistent with your approach. I’m sure you’ll reap success down the road. Looking forward to here again about this weeks number. I’m also a rookie with about 2M in AUM since 6 months (mostly friends, family and a couple of reference). But like you I want to step up my game a couple of notches higher. I started calling today. I was able to pass through my coldcall reluctance because of your and others thread on this website. great community! Here are my stats:

Calls: 54
Contacts: 14
Emails obtain: 7
Meeting: 1

I call businesse owners and no residentials yet.

Keep grinding bullish! looking forward your next post!

Oct 18, 2016 1:06 pm

Gritt-

That’s a great start. Boost that up to over 100 calls and you’ll see even better results. Best time to call is 8:30-10am. I find those hours to be the most productive times. Personally, I don’t call homes. Too much gray area…DNC list, and people get mad. My experience is calling at work is always best. If you just started calling do not give up, commit for at least 3 months. Most people say it sucks because they give up after a week. Keep it going buddy. Happy hunting.

Oct 18, 2016 5:35 pm

Thanks for the advice bullish. Was pretty pumped up after I showed my list to an older rep who built his book exclusively with coldcalls. He said it was a small world and he knew some people in my list… travelling in helicopter. talk about a low rate of succes and major blowout numbers when you get one! So second day into the books:

Calls: 54
Contacts: 8
Emails:5
Meeting:0

Pumped up for tomorrow I got a fresh new list to start the day about 80 business owners with company’s revenu in the range of 10-50M$.

Building my brand and taking names!

Oct 19, 2016 12:36 pm

Good stuff Gritt,

It is hard and it takes a mental toll. Over the summer another broker and I called everyday 150+ calls a day easy…totally dry. It’s all about timing and not giving up. Majority of the time I find a buddy to make calls with because it keeps you accountable.

Business update - NNM for OCT $550k into 529’s and muni’s
$400K+ assets with great potential to close on in the pipeline. Hopefully I can hit $1mm in new assets by end of month. I haven’t done much calls out to businesses but I’m going to mix it in with corporate directories. I made an account at the local library and use the AtoZ database. I did a search of businesses doing $1-5mm in revenue a year within 25 miles of the office. I’ll call on retirement assets and lending. Made 80 calls so far and haven’t gotten anything, but I’m feeling lucky today…pick up the phone and start dialing!

Oct 21, 2016 3:36 pm

Thanks for the advice. Since I have no rookie doing coldcalls with me, I use this blog to keep me accountable. Great numbers for you this month (even though you built it call by call through the past few weeks). There are no overnight success. Congrats. Do you mind sharing your script Bullish? So not the best week for me in terms of numbers. I just finished prepared next week’s calls (about 300–> 75x4days). Wont be too tough to beat my 108 calls for this week. I’ve been watching Glengarry, Boiler room and wolf of wall street to motivate me in picking up the phone. Looking forward next week to build my momentum. Lets reach those numbers. Building my brand and taking names

Oct 24, 2016 1:41 pm

Good work,
My script is basic…“Hello______________, this is Bullish at XYZ Wealth Management, how are you? I wanted to reach out as a courtesy to let you know about a newly issued Cd yielding 1%, that’s more than any savings account, and wanted to know if you’d like me to pass along the information to you.” is for business owners. For corporate calls its “Hello_____________, this is bullish at XYZ Wealth Management. The reason for my call is that I work with many professionals in your industry by helping with personal investments and savings and wanted to know if you were interested in possibly sitting down and hearing more about benefits of an XYZ relationship.”

Simple and to the point.

Last weeks stats:

Dails: 300

Contacts: 20

Suspects: 4

Appointments set: 2

Set up a call for tomorrow afternoon with a guy who didn't even know what firm his money was at??? And a meeting Thursday, not sure if either of them have $250K+ but productivity nonetheless. Happy Monday

Dec 5, 2016 5:36 am

Starting in on my calls next week and in a similar situation to Gritt in that I have no other rookie advisors to keep me accountable at the firm, so I'll be posting on here as well. Nice method guys and thanks for sharing, happy hunting.
