Yard Signs Politics

Nov 1, 2008 11:46 am

I drive about five miles between my brother’s house where I am staying,
and God’s waiting room where my parents are warehoused.  I never
thought of it as a cesspool of racists, but I guess it is.

I also try to vary my routine–going different ways to see the old hometown.

If yard signs are an indication of what will happen on Tuesday one
would have to conclude that Senator McCain will win better than 90% of
the vote.  Now, I know that’s not true because there are far too
many losers in Texas for that to happen, but I do believe that there is
a tide moving in the nation, and that the tide is in favor of us decent
people.

That at the end of the night on Tuesday there will be at last 44 decent
senators and the White House will transfer to the control of the
candiate that is not thought to possibly be aligned with terrorism.

President McCain is going to have a huge pile of "issues’ to deal with,
but at least he has experience in dealing with most them.

The country needs an empty suit at this point in our history like we need a case of gingivitis.

Back to the yard signs.  I’ve driven five different routes.
Admittedly none of the routes would be considered to be “diverse” but
the only Obama sign I saw was one being ripped out of the ground by a
homeowner who either changed his mind or was pissed that somebody stuck
it there.

It would be embarassing to have one in your yard–those signs just
scream, “I am a loser with so much negative self respect that I put this
sign in my yard.”

I just want it to be over.  I'm sick of all the signs, tv commercials, radio commercials, junk mail, and whatever else they do.  Fortunately, I have not received any automated phone calls.

Let's just vote, see what happens, and move on.

i live in a semi-swing state.  i can drive 5 miles in any direction and see nothing but mccain/palin signs.  problem is, the bigger cities in my state will dictate the outcome and it is definitely going to obama, no matter how many signs i see while driving down the street.

You stay with your brother and someone, anyone that puts a sign that is different than what you believe is a loser?

There’s a house around the corner that has “Yes on 8” pumpkins.  You know, a whole family of pumpkins, big ones and little ones, worried about the gay ones coming and spewing all over the kids.

Yep.

I so want to do the right thing.  Is there some reason why it is
not acceptable to stay in my brother’s guest suite when I’m here
visiting our folks?

Living in a swing state is like Christmas with the Griswalds.  The oldies are nuts, The average Joes are furious and the Cousin Eddies of the world are making everyone else crazy!  Let this election be over!

I live in California.  We took a 300 mile loop drive the other day through several medium and smallish towns.  We saw exactly 2 Obama signs and countless McCain signs.  Of course it doesn’t matter because California is outweighted in the LA and SF areas with Obamabots.  If the people in the State  vote 48% Republican (70 to 80% in my County) their votes are erased because 100% of the electoral votes always goes to the  Democrat.

I’m in a semi swing state too.  According to the polls (which a lot of us who know how we are voting don’t participate in) it’s a dead heat here in MO.  According to the yard signs I drive by on the way to work I’d guess McCain is going to win MO.  But I’m in a relatively conservative, middle class area.  My BOA lives in another part of town where the Obama signs outweigh the McCain signs 5-1.

Snags - are you serious that you haven't received any automated calls?  We have 3-4 a day on our answering machine at home.  It's so retarded.  I think that if I don't know who I'm going to vote for by now, I'm probably too dumb to vote.  Thus the reason for the electoral college.

On the basis of the number of yard signs I see, I’m voting for Remax, instead…

  (Yeah, I know, it's lame)

LOL!  How ya doing with your move dobe?

[/quote]   Thanks for asking, iceco1d.   I've been very busy. And it looks like I'm going to be even busier, with Obama being elected President and a Democratic majority in Congress. South Florida is great and the money flowing around here is something else, compared to South Georgia! Definitely culture shock, the good kind.

I donated to the RNC and I would get 2-3 calls per week, and emails from McCain and Palin…but no surveys.
