I miss the problem with Biden’s comments. You are asked … will there be another 9/11? The response: I don’t think so. I believe the opposition is intent on smaller, more difficult efforts like strapping a bomb into one’s backpack. Just like we saw in Detroit, and with the shoe bomber.

“We are more vigilant, so the likelihood of an attack occurring on the level of 9/11 is not high”.

When Bush was saying we had them running and we’d keep chasing them, they were scared. That’s how they think. They only respond to violence and bluster. You start showing weakness, you get attacked.

And I have to agree with what he said, a larger scale attack is less likely now because everyone is alert. You want to know how to bait the enemy and get 4,000 soldiers killed.... Emblazon a destroyer with a "Mission Accomplished" banner just days into a war and do a fly-in wearing an air force flight suit so future Americans can remember you as the biggest douche bag in history. I agree that Morean is reaching; mostly because the “terrorists” he is speaking of do not speak english and they certainly won’t be dicing semantics the way Morean is. The difference between encouraging peacefulness and encouraging Jihad will lie in the person who does the translation - and that’s a crap shoot.
Look at the United States; if you listen to Fox News you get an entirely different story on everything than you get on MSNBC. I would imagine the disparity is even more skewed in other parts of the world.

One, you don't get elected to be President of the United States without being intelligent.
Two, I've seen how these people think. I've spoken to them, at length. Including terrorists. Do you guys know what CLC's are? They are former terrorists (al Qaeda) that the United States pays $10 a day to police their former brethren in Iraq.
I've spoken to some of these people. All of them thought when GWB was elected that the U.S. was ripe for picking. They thought he was soft and weak.
My guess is, now they think that again (I can't verify this, since it's been a while), but they are not people who change rapidly.
Now, I don't think I'm reaching, but that's my opinion. And you stated yours. Time will tell. I hope that no one ever attacks here again. Those of you with an interest in politics and economics should read papers written by Bruce Bueno De Mesquito, a political science professor who is not a Bush fan. He has written extensively that the Iraq occupation was an excellent strategic move, and that to pull out would give Iran a powerful grip on the region and tip the balance in favor of terror states.
Look it up, read it. Quit reading news stories and paying attention to MSNBC, NBC, FoxNews, ABC, CBS. They are NEWS organizations. Pay attention to the real experts. Pay attention to the facts. The associated press (if you MUST watch the news) would be your best source.

Actually, quite a few do. Since I speak neither Arabic or Farsi, I was speaking to them in English.
Some choose not to simply because they do not want to sully their tongues with our filthy language. But that doesn’t mean they don’t understand it.
The leaders of these organizations are generally very well educated (often at our wonderful universities!). Even the CLCs that are still utilized in Iraq speak English and are not very well educated.
Also, al-Jazeera translates.
It amazes me our power in the world.
People all over the world watch our elections and speak our language.It shouldn’t amaze you.
People generally want to do business with Americans, so they learn the language. Americans (myself included) are too arrogant to learn a foreign language because “well, everybody speaks english”.
As for terrorists, as I said, many are educated at western universities. Many learn the language so that they can know what the hated Americans are saying (I remember talking to one such person).
Joe Biden is the best. I really don’t know that he could make a cup of coffee, let alone operate as the VP.
