Swine flu and creeping socialism

Apr 27, 2009 6:19 am

Am I just crazy paranoid…or would a bit of swine flu hysteria present the perfect opportunity for Comrades Obama, Frank, and Pelosi to call for a sweeping expansion of government powers on an emergency basis to ‘protect the public’?  Maybe throw on an ‘temporary’ income tax surcharge on them filthy rich folks to pay for the cost of all the additional ‘protection’.

Your thoughts?

You are crazy paranoid!  I don't want to point out the obvious but a sweeping expansion of government powers happened during the last administration with the rapid passing of the Patriot Act.  Where was your paranoia then?  Seriously TURN OFF RUSH AND FOX NEWS!!!  I'm with you on fiscal conservatism but this radicalism drives me crazy, the Repbulican Party has been hijacked over the last 15 years by Puritanism!  Wow, that was a lot of isms.  Where has rational thinking gone in our country?  I personally feel it is because of "entertainment" news, they are there to and get paid to whip up the emotions, maybe into say, oh what's the word?  PARANOIA!!!

I'm with you on the "entertainment news" front.  I didn't want to believe it for years.... thank we lost an election.  The BSometer is off the charts most days.  I generally like Glenn Beck but today I turn on the radio and he's talking about how the next pandemic is coming.  "It may not be this one but IT WILL HAPPEN!"   Aren't there only like 30 confirmed cases in the US?

And though I've always felt that Hannity was a blowhard, his criticism of every sylabol that leaves Obama's mouth is becoming a little ridiculous.  Its no secret that Bush couldn't compose a sentence and Hannity was always the first one screaming about how he's great, and his speech giving is irrelevent, and thats just his hometown personality shining through.   I think we've become inendated(spelling), with entertainment news, and I CANNOT find a single legitimate news source anymore.   ugh

The World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control have predicted that a disease like the bird flu, or maybe something like this, will (in the next several years) rip through the world, or part of the world, in a devastating manner.

In a lot of ways, this could be a good dress rehearsal. It helps Obama look presidential.   http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124084127590859371.html   Here is something that makes the people in the White House look like a bunch of goons, this was directly authorized by the white house. On a level of one to ten, how much sensitivity does this surprise flying show to Wall Street and New Yorkers? Hannity is a little bit of a blow-hard ( and I wonder if Fox is trying to get the first Mormon elected President), but he sure predicted that elitist socialists would be running the country into the ground. It should be fun watching Fox tonight while I cook supper! We all work on Wall Street. Sometimes the irony of life is funny, but not if the physical local of your office is in Manhatten.     Low-Flying Plane Over Manhattan Was a 'Photo Op'

Conservatives need a voice, but Fox wants the first Mormon president. A lot of folks just won't go for that:

Why do I care what type of underwear someone wants to wear?

Apr 28, 2009 6:03 pm

Go for it. My contention is that conservatives need a voice, I believe Fox has an agenda, (so, when you attack Fox, you’re not challenging many conservatives), and, some Mormons apparently wear interesting underwear all the time. If it helps, when you listen to Glenn Beck, image him sitting in that underwear. The Phoenix ( a new voice for conservatives) arises from the ashes (Fox, get real).

Look, when I woke woke up on 9/11 and turned on the TV, I felt sick. I work “on” Wall Street. When I visited NYC and looked down into the crater of Twin Towers, and looked over at my old corporate office (American Express), I felt sick again. If you hate Wall Street, you’re only thinking of the photo op.

Sometimes reality is larger than life. Anyone who reads the WSJ online could see how much and dignity and passion they used to handle the event.   I encourage all conservative here to focus, get your news from the BBC or WSJ (online in print), cancel the local paper if you live in a liberal town, simplify your life. Fox is entertainment, we have serious work and we will win the good fight against socialism.   (Might not want to support it by buying a GM car.)

Maybe I am.  I was only asking a question to see what response came back.

FWIW I was on my way from a late event tonight, and I hear on Bloomberg from Tokyo that Camrade Barack has asked for authorization for 1.5 billion in ‘emergency spending’ to combat the impending flu epidemic.  Do they know a way to solve problems other than throwing more (of our)_ money at them?

No. Have any of these leaders ever run a business?
No. Have any of these leaders ever run a business?
Interestingly enough, I don’t think so…

Apr 29, 2009 8:29 pm

No, they’re career politicians.  They got out of high school, went to college where they majored in poli sci or something very non business so that they wouldn’t rub elbows with those greasy capitalist pigs, went to law school, interned at some government office, did some community service work, and then got into politics.  They end up as Senators, Reps, or POTUS.  Never enters their mind that they’ll actually have to run something like a business.

Now, I'm sure there are some of them that ran or worked for a business.  However, the major players have degrees in political something or other and haven't got a clue what it means to even balance their checkbook, much less balance a budget.

From the Great White North…in line with you , the politicians here are Career Polticians and very few have experience in the " real world " of work. Regardless of their political stripes.

With the current " Spendomania " , just wait to see in , I 'll pick a number ( 2 years ) what this brain trust will do when the bills come due. Oh right.....keep the money printing machines going!!! That should truly be a concern.
