MLB Playoff Predictions

Oct 6, 2009 2:58 pm

With the postseason at hand (well, after the playoff today), what are some predictions for the baseball playoffs.

Here is mine:   ALCS: New York vs. Anaheim Yankees in 6   NLCS: Los Angeles vs. Philadelphia LA in 7   World Series Yankees in 5   Anyone who knows my predictions (see my predictions about the NBA finals) knows I am always right. Please post your ideas so we can make fun of you...

I’d love to see a Cards vs Yankees series.  However, I think the way we’re hitting right now we’re going to have a tough time getting past LA.

I'll root for anyone who plays against the Yankees.

I hate baseball, the yankees and the cardinals… So who ever is left…

How deep Philly goes depends on which team shows up. If the big time offence with hot pitching that we got after the All-Star game shows itself, they go all the way. If the team we've suffered with through most of september Steps to the plate in Colorado in 4.

The thing is, there is no telling what's going to happen. they've gone through 2 for 11 stretches and then gone 11 for 13. So  ??????????????????????????? in Philly we're holding our breath.
I don't blame you. With a couple of tough lefty arms COL shouldn't be a big problem, but when you run into a more balanced offense I think you may have some issues. I would put money on the fact that the Mann-child bats the lights out this postseason.

Sox will find a way to take it.

Cards over Red Sox in 7, Twins win by 4+ runs tonight in one gamer

Oct 6, 2009 6:52 pm

If the Sox pitching staff shows up every night, they will take it all.  But that's a big IF.  I think they are lights out in the 5 game series.  They will struggle a bit more in a 7 game series.

How do you figure the Cards beat the Sox?

Because the Edward Jones home office section will provide a huge home field advantage

The reason I am going Cards is I think they have gotten progressively better as the year has gone on. Most of that is due to guys coming back from injury and from trades. I also think their 1/2 are the best 1/2 in the playoffs.

Not a great start to the Cards/Dodgers series if you’re a Cards fan.  I’m not holding my breath.

If you've never been to a game in Busch Stadium, you can't look anywhere without seeing EDJ's name all over the place.  Used to seem like a contest between EDJ and AGE to see how many different places each company could get their logo up.

That was an impressive flame out !!!

Almost as impressive as the Red Sox flame out.

Yep...

Right on the money with the Yanks series though, and my World Series prediction stands.

I think Phillies in 6.

Yankees got a lot handed to them(other teams playing poorly). And Sabbathia was terrible against the Phillies last year.

True about having a lot handed to them, but as the whole saying goes "you have to be good to be lucky" (or something like that).

CC is a different pitcher this year, he knows he doesn't have to single-handedly win games so he can just trust his stuff. Also, the Phillies pitching is not good enough. Sure, Cliff Lee was good this post season, but he's also pitching to NL teams. For most of his career in the AL, he was barely above average.

LOVE WATCHING YANKEES LOSE… This game wasn’t even close…

Way to go Henrybar ! You really went out on a limb and made a prediction prior to the game !

That is ridiculous. You were obviously following this thread, but you had your skirt wrapped around your forehead so you couldn't stick your neck out ? Come on !
Really batting 1.000 this year with this.   Anyway, I think the Yanks came into this a little lightly. Tonight they smack Pedro around (AJ Burnett will get smacked around too). It will be like a 10-6 win for the Yankees.

Thank you, Thank you.  I didn’t know it would be quite that scary of ride though

Hamels doesn't melt down in game three, Lidge doesn't come unhinged in game four, Howard doesn't, inexplicably, go 4 four 23, Manuel pulls Pedro before Godzilla bats in the third in game six, and the outcome could have been very different.   The Yankees won this series, but to me that doesn't make them the better team. From a critical POV, I don't see them as the better team. Just better in this series. The Phillies bullpen was plagued by injuries and two key members of the pitching staff hamels and Lidge were horrible all year. Big gun Brett Myers went down in June adding to the Phillies pitching woes. Still, they got to the World Series with a patchwork pitching staff. And barring the outcome outlined in the first paragraph of this post, put it to a Yankees team that was hitting on all eight cylinders. The Phils are a great team who had a poor series.   Still, I thought the series was great. A "White Paper" on good pitching trumps good hitting. Of course a phillies trophy win would have been better for me.   With a payroll that is about half of what the Yankees have ponied up, the Phillies gave us fans a great season!   Next year!
