Massage from a client?

Dec 24, 2008 5:06 pm

Ok, this’ll be fun to get some input on…

Got a client that is a massage therapist (a real one, not the kind that also operates a 'hot tub club') running a three person location.  She's given me a gift certif. for a free massage therapy session as a Christmas gift.  Do I cash it in and thus render myself almost completeley buckskinned before her and receive the healing touch, at the expense of losing the 'professional image' that we all craft so diligently for our clients?  Do I cash it in and request one of the other therapists (one other female, one male), and risk offending the client?  My wife knows this woman, so there's no weirdness there.   She's very attractive, but not that it matters.  The dude that works there appears to be ok, and I don't think he'd go all Heath Ledger on me if we go that route.  The other woman is younger and hotter than my client.............................and I'm losing my train of thought as I type this........   So, anybody else come up against a situation similar to this?

Do you prefer an experienced woman or one that you can teach? I find it differs for me depending on the mood I'm in.  Sometimes older, sometimes younger.

I'd say bare yourself (almost) naked to her (literally and figuratively), your advisor/client will be that much stronger.      Dude! I am jealous!

Don’t ever pick the dude.  Pick the younger woman and ask your wife if she wants to “participate” too.

I like how you think Snags.  It is Christmas time, that’s a gift from the Mrs. you’ll never forget!

She owns Federated Kauf., Cap. Inc. Bldr. and Loomis Say. Strat. Inc., so what do you think?

You're in an enviable position that I haven't worked myself into yet.  As long as you're your wife knows her and she knows what you're doing then you're fine cause you're not doing outside business.  But, I'd hate to bring up the issue of non-cash gifts from clients being declarable.  It shouldn't be more than $100 value.   Even if it is, it would still look funny if you had to record this gift certificate and explain it to your compliance officer.

Go for it dude!  How do you expect to understand her business needs unless you understand her business?  Get the laying of the hands!

Of course I wouldn't listen to me---I've been married several times and all I know how to do is divide assets!    Do the business!  Of course it is under $100 gift>Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!  Just write down the value <$99 and don't worry about Compliance/Field Services--they will just be wishing they got a free massage.   Of course I have a girlfriend who owns a massage business--do you think I declare it everytime she throws my butt on the table and does me?  Good God folks--worry about something worth worrying about!  At this age I just glad I still have more than one girlfriend, that I get free massages, and that I get my senior discount!   Happy New Year!

It’s a good gift… trust me.

My wife was a massage therapist (the ‘official’ kind, thank you very much…), and she set me up for a massage every week during the year. Had a nice standing appointment for an official ‘fluff and buff’ each week.

Beware, however, true massages aren’t for pu$$ies… they can hurt like a bitch.

She’s now a stay-at-home wife after 13 years with her own practice (her hands began to hurt and I told her to bag it) … but, every once in a while, I’ll come home with a fire in the fireplace, and the massage table ready to go. She’s excellent.

Enjoy it… I sure have.

Too keep the professional image intact I suggest giving it to your wife for her to use.

I know this is an old thread, but how did the massage go? Did it end happily?

Still got the certificate, haven’t cashed it in.

With this market, go get the message.  Treat yourself to the hottest one.  We deserve some “happy time”.

Purchase a massage and have your wife go with your client and you go with the other girl and do a couples thing so it’s in the same room.  That way your client won’t be offended that you dissed her and you keep the relationship on a professional level.  God forbid you began sproting some wood alone with her.

I am sure this is 100% professional but on some level maybe she just wants to see more of you.

God forbid he gets wood while he is getting a massage and his wife is in the room.
