Hey there muscle man, when you run your 5 minute mile, you will no longer be the biggest broker in the boardroom.

Dec 7, 2009 2:49 pm

Yeah, we have a lot of runners in my area, those guys that typically place at the front of the pack are in no danger of winning the Atlas Invitational.  Most of them go about a buck-twenty soaking wet and walk like they are in pain all the time.  And they wear those stupid girly-80’s nylon shorts that don’t quite hide enough.

First off, I wouldn't trade working out in the morning for anything, not even sex (seriously, GF by all like omg stay in bed and I'm like peace, bitch). Lifting, MMA (I used to train with American Top Team), and being swole in general are awesome.

But... dude thats a terrible workout you're only doing the "brah" lifts Hey brah can I get a spot brah brah braaaaaaaaaaah so stoked   Seriously you're only doing the lifts that require loading up 200+ pounds on the barbell. Surely you work the triceps, biceps, traps? Did you just not list your entire workout? Some side lateral raises with 20 lb dumbbells won't make you look like a beast in the gym but it's the shoulders that make you look huge and it's a crucial excercise to prevent rotator cuff injuries.   As far as helping with my career, my physical size hasn't helped me too much... being a one man office and all... but mentally, lifting in the morning is a necessity. Up at 5am, lifting, downing a ton of protein, and a cup of coffee before the opening bell... can't think of a better way to start the day.   Edit - I used to work out the late evening until I started working full-time. I'm just too exhausted physically and mentally at the end of the day now. However, I now realize that I enjoy lifting in the morning much more than I did in the evening.

This workout is hard to criticize and I’ve been following it for years

http://www.bodybuildingprogramzone.com/Articles/article238.htm (Cardio on Wednesday, either running or swimming... swimming is actually pretty tough)

[/quote]   I walk.  And ring doorbells.  Builds my quads, calves, biceps, index finger, and jaw muscles all at the same time.  And I get new prospects that don't care if I'm the biggest guy in the room.  That's how I help my business.    Ever wonder how much better your business would be doing if you spent that 5+ hours out meeting people instead of working on your takedown moves?    Kudos on a workout schedule.  Don't do it because of your business though.  Do it because it's good for you and you enjoy it.

I think working out is a big advantage.   Outside of the obvious health benefits, it can boost your overall confidence, and just feeling better is going to make you work better and not fatigue mid day.  i work out M-W-F early morning and I absolutely am more productive than when I go thru a stretch of not working out at all.

There is a difference between the professionals shedding the "blood, guts, and glory" and you lying on another man!

MMA can get a little gay.

Instead of working out I prefer to work on my diet of babies, kittens and puppies.

The first time you get punched in the face and realize he’s serious about it and continues charging at you is very enlightening. Your preditory, survival, cave-man instincts kick in; makes you feel like a man. Either he knocks you out or you reverse the tables and do the same to him. MMA is sweet. Don’t watch it, hit the gym and give it a shot. After you’ve garnered some experience, you find yourself watching matches under a different perspective; you can start predicting what they’ll do or what they need to do.

Every cold call I make is like getting punched in the face

Dec 9, 2009 7:15 pm

Yeah. Competing in MMA events for a living is one thing but 2 hours a week is more of an insult to the profession.

He should have said he trains to a Billy Blanks video 2 hours a week.
Dec 9, 2009 8:07 pm

I’ve never understood the attraction to MMA.

It’s a little strange that you would subject yourself to getting beaten over and over.  Dumb.  And sack rubbing is a little much.

Dec 9, 2009 11:09 pm

A little off topic, but absolutely true.  I remember reading the newspaper a few years back and there was an article by Susie Orman.  She was talking about ways for young people to save money.  One of her suggestions: don’t bother with a gym membership while you’re young, you’re healthy anyway and don’t need the extra cost.  I about fell out of my chair, can her advice get any worse.  She didn’t say work out at home, she said don’t worry about working out.

Not only killing him, but he might have made $2 or $3.
