It snowed last night above 9,800 ft

  Ski season is not that far away

Ski passes are bought

Ski's are waxed  

Both Jeeps have new tires and chains

But now I have to get myself in Ski shape

A lot of stretching, I would imagine. Do you pick up business on the ski lift?

You meet a lot of people from all over the world. On average there is about 500,000 tourists in town through out the year.   Skiing is a great way to meet the local  retirees. I have never picked up a client skiing but it is a great way to spend a day with a client

I have met new clients hiking in the mountains but never skiing! Maybe this year

I met with a client today who wants to pay $700/sq. ft. for a condo in a Rockies resort condo. Who knows, it may be a good investment, and he said I only sprinkled and did not rain on his aspirations.

Things must be really booming, wherever you are in them there Rockies, Cascades, or Sierras and such.

Personally, I’m in the process of getting out of the real estate business…with the exception of my home and some acreage I’m planning on putting a weekend cabin on…the rest of it (rental properties) has become a money pit and a pain in the @–

Hey Indy, that is just because you are so good managing equities and fixed securites for some reason - each portfolio is unique, granted, I have some clients whose portfolio consistently does better than mine, and I'm managing all the money.

But I always recommend, own as much house as you can, and stay out of the rental biz, unless you do it full time.

The wealthy second home owners here do not rent the property. They may only stay here for a week or two a year. To them it is more of a ego thing to say I own property up in the mountains. 

A ranch went on sale this week if you are interested $80 million asking price! 

The second home owners here are a pain they drive up prices for everything and there ego is sicking

Yeah, my client figured his condo in Steamboat would rent for $3,000 per night around Christmas, enough to cover around half of annual homeowner's dues.

I can imagine those tall egos, every now and then you run into one and to have them all gathered together in your favorite diner must be a real treat.

Me too.  it's been a pain and i'm sorry I wasted my time.  if you get the right price though, and are in a decent area, property managers may make sense for you.  even if you were to only break even each month, you're building equity and in the future can cash flow it or sell it and profit from the appreciation without the headaches.  Maybe you'll be lucky and it'll burn down.  Good money there too.  One of ours did (thankfully no one was hurt) cha-ching!!

Believe me...I've wished for an accidental fire several times recently.  So much, I almost back-tracked on my no-smoking policy...

I have no question that I've made money, but I can make a hell of a lot more (and be a lot happier) by focusing on my business.

Indy, that makes sense. The $$$ you invest in leveraging someone else's labor in your business, for example, should producer a higher rate of return than real estate.

And doing one job is easier than two.

  Are you in Colorado? I love it when it begins to snow.  I am only at 6,500 so we get some good ones, but not the REALLY good ones above 8-9000   I would LOVE to live and work in Woodland Park though.         [quote=Greenbacks]
