Smith Barney Transfer Fee Waivers

Jul 9, 2009 2:18 am

On April 1, 2009 Smith Barney clients received a letter that stated they would waive transfer fees for any client who wished to transfer their account to another financial institution  before May 30, 2009. Specific instructions were requested to be mailed to a NY address. So far there has been no waiver for clients who exercised this option. I have a copy of the letter that I personally received with my statement. To me, a waiver is different than a reimbursement. They did charge the transfer fees. There was no waiver. Does anyone know anything about this?

Sounds like a scam.  Why not contact SB?

This waiver I am referring to was in the notice about the merger of Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley.

I had the same issue for a client who transferred from MS and followed the instructions for the fee waiver. The $95 ACAT fee hit and after a week my client called MS to inquire about the waiver and he was referred to the BOM. The BOM said he would look into it and at the end of June the fee was credited to the account.

Lewis,

I have same issue with SB. But my previous financial advisor couldn’t help, the customer service didn’t know who else can handle.

Do you know what is the phone number to call? btw, what’s BOM?

I’d greatly appreciate you reply to my email: [email protected]
