Women on Wall Street for Glamour magazine

Oct 17, 2008 1:07 am

Hi everyone,

I know this is a forum for brokers & advisors, and I’m sorry to barge in like this – but I’m a writer for the women’s mag Glamour, and we’re casting a super wide net for a story we’re working on. We’re trying to get a first-person view of the financial crisis, so we’re hoping to find a woman who was affected by the meltdown – someone who, until recently, was working on Wall Street – to tell our readers her story. We’re looking for someone under 45, since that’s Glamour’s demographic, to talk about what it was like to be a part of the turmoil – what she’s learned, what it’s been like for her day to day dealing with the job loss, etc.

Right now, I’m just in the process of background reporting, so it’s totally casual and off the record. It’s a magazine piece, not breaking news, and we’re just trying to find the right person to work with. I imagine it won’t be the easiest story to tell, but it’s an important one.

Our purpose here is twofold: a) for our readers to have a better understanding of this crucial time in US history and b) for our readers to make connections to their own lives, especially in terms of their lifestyles/finances – to learn from this woman’s personal experience – perhaps what she wishes she’d done differently, what general advice she might have, etc.

My contact info is below – I’m happy to talk casually with anyone who might be willing to share their story with our readers. Thanks so much and again, sorry to barge in on your forum.

Thanks, everyone.

Whitney

Totally see what you’re saying – I just figured I’d check to see if anyone here knows someone else who might be interested. Again, just trying to cast a wide net.

Thank you!

Try Abbey Joseph Cohen at Goldman Sachs.  She is (was) a prominent head of equity research at this venerable wall street firm.  Call the Goldman Headquarters in NYC.  The number is in the blue pages.

Her S&P 1600 call for year end may have added a few years to her appearance…She is still employed though.  Good luck.

Playboy is looking for Wall Street Women for a slightly different purpose as well!

Whitney, on behalf of the industry I have loved since the early 1970s I apologize for the nimrods who responded above.

Nonetheless I hope you are unable to find a woman who will help you do a hatchet job on brokers and brokerettes---or should I say advisors and advisorettes?
