Why don’t you ask the folks at Wachovia to describe what the position entails?

I can tell you from personal experience that they will not tell you.  I tried calling several people within Wachovia and they would only refer me to the Manager when I really wanted to talk to the person doing the job.

Joe, you read my mind. That's a question I've wanted to ask everyone who comes on these boards and asks, "What does this B/D pay?, What's involved?" etc.

Just go up to the manager of (fill in the blank) Broker/Dealer and ask them for an appointment to discuss the job, the pay, etc. While at that appointment, ask to meet a successful broker and buy that broker lunch. Then grill him/her about the job. Don't worry about ordering yourself any food, you should be busy taking notes.

If you're having trouble working up the nerve to approach the manager to ask about the job, you aren't going to make it in this business, anyway.  

You guys are ROUGH… But I guess thats what it takes to be successful as a broker.

Depending upon the neighborhood you are in, it dictates your client base. You can do phone calling if you want to generate business but you will be too busy telling people why they overdrew their own accounts and ordering checks, and debit cards. Get sponsored to take the 7 some place but by all means DO NOT TAKE THAT JOB IT BITES!
