Thinling of relocating to AZ OR HI
Any opins on best credit unions or banks in either Az or Hi?? Mahalo!!!
I strongly recommend the First National Bank of Whothehellcares.
Dunno abt any banks but I know cost of living in Phx will be better.
But you live in... phoenix.
Maui's nice, but Oahu's probably better for business...
Scottsdale.... ASU.... 5 hour drive to the summer home in San Diego.... Leinert, Edge, and the up and coming Card's....
Doesnt sound so bad....
Careful about going to Hawaii to build a business. From what I've heard, they generally only do business with those born & raised there and are very suspicious of outsiders. Just what I've heard.
Ironically, I hear Baltimore is the same way. It's all about where you grew up, school you attended, social circles, etc.

I was thinking the same that Hawaii could be tough to build a business as they appreciate their own way more than a new rep from the mainland.
Any feelings on credit unions in Honolulu or Phoenix or Scottsdale?
I ran the investment program at First Hawaiian Bank from 1994-2000 and I can tell you that there is a definate preference in most areas for local born & raised reps. Not everywhere, though, as some areas have a lot of people from the mainland. A lot of these snowbird types tend to keep their brokers back where they came from.
Having said that, I can tell you that if you really embrace aloha and the local customs, you'll become kama'aina and do OK. Credit unions are tough places to build a book. The two big banks, BOH & FHB both have big trust departments and enforce a lot of referral of large customers up to trust for asset management. So be warned on that.
