IH what did you do before you worked at EJ?  Also what state do you work in?

I think you guys look great in those green and brown suits you get at the Burlington Coat Factory or S&K Men's Wear

There is nothing wrong a 70's style leasure suit to hand out your business card.

The employees of Jones may a well wear a 70’s style suit, hell thats the year of their communication system. BTW did I mention it cost each EMPLOYEE 1300 PER MONTH.

Wearing suits in some of the towns Jones have offices in might be the kiss of

death. I can’t knock them for this because someone in a suit doorknocking

would look like either a religious freak, tax man or a representative from the

local funeral home.

The satellite costs are a farce. Any accounting student would tell you they depreciated that equipment years ago. It is just another method of withholding profit dollars to the IR.

Rich Malone is the biggest joke in the firm. He makes 6M and heads IS. The move to T1 should dramatically reduce the costs but I would guarantee the cost will remain the same or even higher at the branch. Jones is so corrupt, I have a hard time believing that other firms are just as bad or worse.

Growth will never increase with the current structure. The partners are going to have to sell out to someone bigger. Bet on it.

My firm uses T1 and cost/broker (incl PC with all the whistles is 800/mo).

wear=attire on your body.

Go out and knock on some doors.  Better yet, knock your head on the wall. 

I’m still new here, but this place would be a lot better if it wasn’t filled with all the Jones bashing/crap. 

It get’s a bit tiresome to see 70% of all threads in each forum be Jones related.

You might want to consider purchasing a few non-off-the-rack suits.  Nothing looks more professional than a custom tailored suit.  If you shop around you should be able to get a nice Italian made for under $1000, Chilean made for under $800 and Chinese made for under $80.  (Assuming that you pick them up in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />China yourself)<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Maybe you look at going to work at Jones. There are several reasons why you should.......

1. Run your own biz

2. Get LP

3. Super clean track record

4. Jones trips

5. 401k and health insurance

6. State of the art technology

7. No pesky emails to get in the way of 25 real contacts

8. Unparalleled equity rsearch

9. Voted "best company to work for " since 1493

Really man, look into it......even if Ted is dead.

Other things to note if you're going to work at Jones:

1. Wear proper ID so you're not confused with a Jehovah's witness

2. Carry plastic forks for all the 'hotdish' you'll get

3. If you ride your bike through the neighboorhood, take your tie off

4. Update your motel-6 club card for the Jones trips

5. Buy a manikin to keep you company in your branch office of ONE

6. Make a sign for the parking space outside your office that reads, "Reserved for ED Jones customers" - so the overflow from the local Walgreens doesn't take up your spot

7. Same as number 6 - but to also keep the dominos pizza delivery drivers away from your front door.

AND- when you get an office- put some poles up with ropes looped through them in your lobby-

that way neither you nor your customers will miss the bank!

I’m new to this message board, realize that people are fed up with all the ED Jones trash talk, and I certainly don’t want to distract people from producing.  But WOW!! - is it ever entertaining to make fun of Edward Jones.

The reason we bash Jones so much is because we are fed up with all the BS that is spread by the GP's in the form of "Culture."  It is are way of detoxing.  I think I will stop posting when I start hearing some change at EDJ.  That might be in 2023.

Maybe there should be an EDJ only forum here then?  I have a friend who just left EDJ for many of the reasons you all are stating, so I am not at issue with the bashes themselves.  I think a centralized location for bashing/defending would be a good solution though.

so true-- best way to handle it is to NOT read it- always assume that 80/20 is in operation here, 80% BS and 20% decent info--

and right when the EJ stuff starts to cool, the likes of the Inedible Hulk revive it again--if your attitude is that the boys are playin' around too much, you're going to get run out of here for being too pissy--

so just go along, read what you want and let the boys play, and if it bothers you too much, don't read Imbecile Hulk, et al and look for the 20% content that may interest you-

then again- this forum is not for intelligent comment only, if that's all you REALLY want just google your info, read it and move on- but admit it, you'll miss the Impotent Hulk after awhile--

Strange but true. I wonder how things are going for him and Mary Lou, next door to the Chineese Restaurant- right on Main Street.

I also wonder why we don't hear anymore from Guest1.

This is weird, I didn’t know anyone still wore suits in our business. 

The reason we don’t hear from Guest1 anymore is because he always wore a cheap suit that had to be tailor-made for 5 ft. 5 in. men who have Napolean complexes.
