Partnering with a bank...offering our BD as brokerage arm

Our BD has an opportunity to partner with a local bank to create a brokerage arm for them. Has anyone out there been through the process or have any insight into how a relationship like this can work? What type of arrangement do you have? Has it been a positive thing for your firm? What have been the drawbacks? Any help would be appreciated.
