Moving from IR to Client Associate Ques

Nov 3, 2005 12:33 am

I am an IR who has finally made the decision that sales is not the profession for me (not to mention EJ).  I know Jones would come after me if I went to another sales positions selling securities and insurance during my first three years.

The question I have is would they come after me if I went to an associate position where I am not selling but working front office greeting clients and handling administrative duties?

A receptionist??? Come on..... You'd rather be a receptionist than a top notch salesperson. How much time have you spent honing your craft??? None I bet. Is a doctor a doctor after his 1st class in med school. I think not.  Give up now. regret it for the rest of your life.

Receptionist??  Come on......

I appreciate the support, but I really need some feedback on my original question.

EZ, don’t you sit in a bank lobby? Ever have to “cover” the phones? Maybe you can help newejir out.

I don't know EZ.  The only place I know of that has a "client associate" position is ML.  From what I understand that is much more like being in a Physician's Assistant position in a doctor's office than it is to being a receptionist in a doctor's office.

I am talking about the Client Associate position at ML.

I’d say it’s highly unlikely they’ll come after you for anything; I’ve heard of numerous people leaving for competitors–and remaining in a sales role–that haven’t heard anything from EJ.

Thanks for your feedback.  I was going to try to leave EJ on good terms to try to lessen the possibility too.
