Movies (relative) to work
Purchased and watched the DVD, Pursuit of Happyness last night.
Good flick and relative to the industry or to the working world, in general. The movie should be inspiring to young, ambitious wannabes (or anyone, for that matter) in overcoming obstacles to success. Recommend it.
Other (relative) movies?
Wall Street, Boiler Room, Barbarians At The Gate, Other People’s Money, Tin
Men, and of course, Glengarry Glen Ross.
Other movies:
Swimming with the Sharks. Devil wears Prada....Dealing with bad boss.
Sales:
GlengaryGlenross Big Kahuna Two for the Money The Prime GigAll
yeah...WallStreet, too...that was good one. I'll have to watch the other ones (Boiler Room--missed that one).
DVD's or tvshow: the Office
movie: Officespace
Read the book Pursuit of Happiness. If you were inspired by the movie, you will be more so by the book.
I recently watched Glengarry Glen Ross per recommendation from this board. It was great, though quite depressing as well.
To the extent that successful pursuit of the career is a black comedy of persistance, I nominate the movie Fargo.
On that note, another movie along the lines of persistance:
Gone with the Wind
I'll think about that tomorrie.

Death Of A Salesman
In the spirit of thinking for yourself and not being a suck up if you really want to make it, Rebel Without a Cause.
And for Bobby, I offer RoseMary's Baby.

Read the play years ago. I didn't know they made it into a film. Who starred
in it, and when was it made?
Not trying to promote Tom Cruise - but watch Jerry Maguire, fabulous for those on the verge of losing everything.
Otherwise - The Last Samurai is a good illustration of how focus, determination, and a good sword, will kill the competition.

Miller took the play to China in the '80's, and converted a nation to Capitalism. Americans buy all the crap made in China that was inspired by the drama, we're all the stars.
(1951) Frederick March is Willy. Maltin gives it 3.5 stars.

From IMdb.com (a fantastic resource!)
From the "Who will play 'me' in the movie version of my life?" file.
Did anyone watch Raines on NBC on friday(?)?
They tore poor Jim Cramer a new one!
In it they showed a clip from a show named Crazy Money! And the actor is banging on the Cramer button machine and generally making an azz out of himself.
We'd all like some one the likes of Redford (young) Newman (I should live that long) Brad Pitt (still needs two names) or Richard Gere (who is making Clifford Irving look better every day!)...
Nobody want's this guy http://www.cnn.com/SHOWBIZ/9710/21/stars.series/link.hytner. jpg to play them in the movie!
Pity, Whomit.
He looks just like you! (Younger and with hair, of course!)
yeah, I recognize that actor from Senfeld.
My favorite movie about "work"
is Kool Hand Luke with Paul Neuman.
"I've got my mine, right, Boss!"
not a favorite movie, but movie about life, "Forrest Gump"
run, Forrest, run! Life is like a box of chocoloates!
best attitude movie: TaxiDriver, Robt Deniero:
You talkin to me! I said, R you talkin to me!!!
Here are some other favorite movie lines.

And here's one that whomit has used, borrowed from The Godfather.
Ahhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhh! (The Godfather)
You folks ever watch Entourage?
Ari, the movie star’s agent, is practically the definition of client relationship management. He’s aggressive as hell, and he’ll do anything to get his star into the huge movies he wants.
No, but watching Blood Diamond reminded me of my relationship with current broker dealer.
Entourage sounds like Jerry McGuire. I'll look it up an see what Leonard Maltin has to say.
And at the other end of the chain from Blood Diamond, you have Diamond Men, an entertaining darkish comedy ( still sales ).
Braveheart and Gladiator.
Without passion and a cause we are all just a few billion atoms.
The Big Lebowski
A great film about hard work, dedication, and bowling.
"Say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos."
“Thank You For Smoking” is a great movie about a guy who’s good at getting his message across.

Leaving Las Vegas
Ben was Nicolas Cage and Sera was Elisabeth Shue
Ben Sanderson: Are you desirable? Are you irresistible? Maybe if you drank bourbon with me, it would help. Maybe if you kissed me and I could taste the sting in your mouth it would help. If you drank bourbon with me naked. If you smelled of bourbon as you fxcked me, it would help. It would increase my esteem for you. If you poured bourbon onto your naked body and said to me "drink this". If you spread your legs and you had bourbon dripping from your breasts and your puxxy and said "drink here" then I could fall in love with you. Because then I would have a purpose. To clean you up and that, that would prove that I'm worth something. I'd lick you clean so that you could go away and fxck someone else.
Ben Sanderson: I came here to drink myself to death.
Sera: How long will it take you?
Ben Sanderson: I'd say about three to four weeks.
Sera: Is drinking a way of killing yourself?
Ben Sanderson: Or, is killing myself a way of drinking?
Man what a good movie.
