Leadership

Willy, your book thread seems to have been damaged when it was moved.

I have been thinking about the advisor role and leadership lately. The book I recommend is:

27 Powers of Persuasion, Chris Hilaire

Here is a sample of some chapter headings:

Focus on the Goal Evaluate Egos Make Your Weakness Your Strength Find One Thing to Like about Everyone in the Room Use the first Five Minutes to Make People Feel Safe Stay in the Present Make it about Choice, Fairness and Accountability Keep it Simple Use Emotional Language Learn How to Use Silence And so on ...

I have been thinking about how we have everything we need here in America, and the real crisis is about leadership. Advisors are the personal coaches and leaders for their clients, and this book is based on real life experiences of the author.

TimesSeven,

History proves that leadership requires two things.  Medals and a sword.  It's appealing to left brain and right brain.  Just focus on those two things and you will be fabulously successful.  Look and Wacko Jacko - he only met 1/2 the criteria and he's an all-time POP leader.  Or Ghadafi, he was in office longer that anyone except 1 or 2 other guys who also had medals and swords.  McCann is the only exception..

Leadership is very good quality. It will increase your will power and confidence. It will increase your communication skill. You have to be a leader in any task for once. I am leader of my team in company. I have to lead 7-8 guys and they will work on my lead . It is very nice experience.

Some leaderships have been characterized as good and have been used as challenges for others to emulate. This description however raises an obvious question: upon what criteria were these leadership characterized as good? It is certain that some leaders, whose leadership does not fall within this category, have good qualities that others can emulate. For this reason it is important not only to know that a leadership has been characterized as good but also to know the characteristics that qualifies it as good.

Leadership and managerial ability are not about mystical skills or pure personality traits that only a chosen few were born with. Leadership is different from management, but it does not mean that leadership is superior or a substitute of management skills. Rather, leadership and management are two complementary competencies, and both are necessary for the success of any enterprise. Leadership complements management; it does not replace it.
