Your input please!

Who have you used as a coach? What kind of success would you attribute to the relationship?

Why do you need a coach? Can't someone who can criticize me about closing deals do business without a coach? Please don't give the "I want to take my business to the next level" response. You have to have a level in order to go to the next level.

With regard to ingnoring Bobby, if you take him at face, he brings up some good stuff. I mean, noboby wants their feelings hurt, but ...

coaches can ruin a lot of the fun. Sure, you need some basic training, but that means just " getting a level ".

Maybe coaches ( not colleagues ) are mainly leaches.

99% of the coaches out there are useless leaches in my experience…

and some colleagues too!

if you find a good one(mentor, coach, colleague to provide mutual support), stick closely with them, but shy away from the others and don’t let them waste your time.

This is a painfully simple business. You have your own ideas and way, and you arrive at the point where you have to move forward by changing.

For example, on the annuity thread, " you have have to respect the guy, he specializes in annuity sales. " The hard, cold truth is, that's true. You come to that by hard knocks, maybe you still hate annuities, but you open your mind 'cause some of the 'boomers will need them.

Bondguy, all the Jones guys use mentors/coaches/fieldtrainers. Our region had the coach himself "Tom Bartow" annually come in waving the ICA guide.  He basically said, "This is a painfully simple business. You have your own ideas and way, and you arrive at the point where you have to move forward by changing." Bingo, you said the same words as he did.  He repeated it the next year, then the next. A good coach rarely tells you anything new, they just tell it in a way that you can better understand it.

BTW, the mentors/fieldtrainers are for LP, call the one that's been out the longest, but is not a brown noser. I had one old timer at Jones I would call. I would call him and he would make me answer my own question. He was/is good.

Sorry I am assuming you were/are a Jonesee. The Bond… part of your name threw me off.

You're lucky to have had some good coaches. Mine were mostly people trying to profit from my book and good social skills.

But I have a great golf teacher, he doesn't say much, just a few sentences every week, and over a long period of time, the fruit is now hanging low and ripening.
