Bond Funds
What bond funds are being used that have handled interest rate increases in the past ?
Pimco Total Return fund has had a very good track record, even beating the S&P 500 over a 20 year span.
I use PIMCO TR as well. I also like JP Morgan for Core Bonds.
I use a lot of JPM Core also. The inflows into that fund scare the crap out of me though. Usually that means the party is over.
LORD ABBETT SHORT DURATION
Look at Pimco low duration as well.
LORD ABBETT SHORT DURATION
Great fund! Stay short term and your clients shouldn't get hard if rates increase. I believe the C share is still yielding close to 4%
I’m doing the institutional share, 4.68 yld
+1 Ron - but the NAV continues to remain steady and is even up 3% since July. I've used Pimco TR, have also looked at Oppeheimer bond funds. I'm actually getting pretty tired of answering questions all day about bond funds, credit quality, yields etc.I use a lot of JPM Core also. The inflows into that fund scare the crap out of me though. Usually that means the party is over.
What was the fund (I believe it was a Lord Abbett Fund) that offered a short-term bond fund that had no CSDC on their C-shares?

I think you mean Legg Mason. They have a short duration with no CDSC on the C share. Pays you a 50 bps trail immediately but nothing up front.

Wow that fund is really terrible.
JPMorgan Funds has a nice C Share with no CDSC (or sales credit for that matter). Pays 75 bps trail immediately - OSTCX.
I've been using it in emergencies as a last resortIs it AMT-free?
Use SMLLX the intermediate.....if you think that is terrible I just can't help you.[quote=Omar] [quote=BerkshireBull]

On the muni side there are decent funds - I agree their govt short term is awful.[quote=Omar] [quote=BerkshireBull]

Is anyone showing their clients Oppenheimer Champion Income? OPCHX
Why?
- exactly, why would you ? Here Mr and Mrs client, this is a bond fund that has averaged -10% over the last 10 yrs.
It's a good way to scare prospects into a fixed annuity.- exactly, why would you ? Here Mr and Mrs client, this is a bond fund that has averaged -10% over the last 10 yrs.
Now that is a good strategy !!!!
not a muni fund; basically all Treasury/Govie type with a little preferred stock thrown in.Is it AMT-free?
I use a lot of JPM Core also. The ottawa escort inflows into that fund scare the crap out of me ottawa asian escort though. Usually that means the party is ottawa asian escorts over.
