How the American Family Is Changing

Marty Shenkman and Hugh Magill discuss the modern American family.

The question of what constitutes a "family" is more complicated today than its ever been.

With changes such as the legalization of same-sex marriage, the proliferation of divorce, the popularity of adoption and simply changing social mores, families are becoming more and more complexly blended. The "traditional" husband + wife + natural kids paradigm is no longer the dominant model, and assuming it is can get an advisor in trouble.

As such, advisors need to be nimble and keep very open minds in order to best serve their clients.

In this episode Marty Shenkman and Hugh Magill sit down to discuss what advisors need to do to keep up with the ever changing nature of the American family.
