Merrill Lynch leads the pack in terms of the number of CIMA-carrying reps. The Certified Investment Management Analyst designation “focuses on asset allocation, ethics, due diligence, risk measurement, investment policy and performance measurement,” according to Investopedia.com. Only reps that are investment consultants with at least three years of professional experience are eligible for a CIMA, which is administered by the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
