Two Advisor Group OSJs Combine to Create $9B Firm

GenXFinancial and Boston Partners Financial Group are coming together to create the largest super OSJ at Advisor Group's Royal Alliance, with $9 billion in total assets and 180 advisors.

GenXFinancial, a super office of supervisory jurisdiction of Royal Alliance Associates, an Advisor Group broker/dealer, has announced plans to acquire Boston Partners Financial Group, another super OSJ affiliated with Royal Alliance, creating a firm with $9 billion in total client assets and 180 advisors.

Once the deal closes, GenX will become the largest super OSJ at Royal Alliance.

Nashville, Tenn.–-based GenX was founded in 2017 by Brian Heapps, the former president of Signator Investors, and Robert Mitchell. The firm encompasses three separate businesses: Innovative Financial Group, the OSJ; MyRemoteFA, a platform for servicing clients virtually; and SellMyFinancialPractice, which provides turnkey continuity and succession planning for sellers.

“We started this journey to help solve one of the key issues facing our industry—the aging demographics of the advisor population,” Mitchell said in a statement. “In doing so, we have become the destination of choice for independent advisors approaching retirement by creating turnkey platforms that make it easy for buyers and sellers of individual practices to create and execute succession plans.”

Andover, Mass.–based Boston Partners Financial Group has been led by Mark Marroni for more than 20 years; the firm has 53 advisors and about $4.5 billion in client assets. Marroni will continue to lead his group as an ensemble practice under the GenX umbrella, which will operate under the Boston Partners Financial Group brand.

Advisor Group’s internal succession and acquisitions team, led by Todd Fulks, supported both GenX and Boston Partners on the deal.
