Alright, What’s going on at the old Paine Webber?

Jan 4, 2006 10:09 pm

They suck.  I don't miss them one bit.

Anything else?

Maybe we can start a UBS-bashing thread.....

Sotck is up to $100.  That's it.

"The Swiss are nothing but German's in short-pants."  - quote I heard from a former PW guy.

Just got my bonus numbers last week, I’m fuming.  I thought the numbers were a joke, it was real.  Couldn’t believe it.

Worked so friggin hard in 05’ helping them earn so much business and this is what I got, I am livid.

I’m never eating Swiss cheese again.

Already started packing.

UBS largest producing broker in Columbus, OH and perhaps the state of Ohio was so fed up with his chintzy bonus he packed his bags and bailed for Bear Stearns last week.

Bear Stearns is pleased to announce that former UBS broker, Brad Kastan, and former LM broker, Jim Bowman, are starting Bear's 3rd satellite office in Columbus, OH.

Stay tuned...more new satellite offices on the way. Must be large producers. Must be non crybabies (disqualifies many of the posters on this thread). Must have a clean CRD. No thanks to salesmen who are proficient at peddling variable annuities or house mutual funds to their mothers-in-law!

How long have you been a recruiter?

A better question would be "How much longer do you plan on being a recruiter?"

I can't believe that this stupid broad would come here and insult a pool of prospects.

I am not a recruiter, though I have managed to persuade (without hardsell tactics) quite a few brokers who are perfect “10’s” to trade up to Bear Stearns and/or other prime firms.

And you did so out of the kindness of your heart, right?

When I hear about BSC's retail connections the first thing that comes to mind is Brooks Brothers selling products at Walmart. Yeah, it's a great institutional name, but the slimeball retail outfits that I've seen that feature their clearing agent, Bear, as if they're somehow the retail arm of Bear, well.....I think they've sold their name on the cheap.

What sort of real retail presence does Bear have these days, or are we still talking about just b/d ops?

No of course not...you're an "executive placement engineer"......

I’m a recruiter.

Yes and BR I have no problem with that.  Unlike our friend here, you've been honest and upfront about it all along.

Feb 2, 2006 9:10 pm

I was simply trying to state the obvious and be a little bit of a smart@$$.  I do appreciate, though, that no one has really had a problem with me being on here - there's good dialogue and it's thought provoking.  And look - how long has it been since we've had an EDJ topic?

Feb 2, 2006 9:20 pm

The "boys" as in resident peanut gallery with nothing better to do than peddle variable annuities/house mutual funds have a problem with women who are non domestic engineers (like their wives) for some reason.

Must be the new rules about no more strip clubs or something.

Have a nice evening, everyone.

Feb 2, 2006 9:20 pm

oh, no, BR, …  Now you’ve done it!

The "boys" as in resident peanut gallery with nothing better to do than peddle ......[/quote]

Since that label obviously doesn't apply fairly to everyone here, I can only assume you used it to avoid answering questions, and that you have something to hide....

Feb 2, 2006 9:34 pm

I am not a headhunter, Mr. Butler. I don't peddle house mutual funds and/or variable annuities, either.

On the peanut gallery, I view these chat boards for amusement purposes in between trades and/or earnings' confie calls, that's all.

If you're the individual who asked if I persuaded those perfect 10's to jump ship out of pure altruism (you may have to explain that for the peanut gallery), the answer is no (not out of 100% pure altruism).
