Which is a better model for a former McDonald FA?  UBS or RJA Independent employee model?

That depends on whether or not you're a good candidate for an independent practice.  Answer that and you'll have your answer.

If you were an FA in downtown Cleveland, for example, and you enjoyed the atmosphere UBS might be a good fit.  On the other hand, if you were based in a small town office with 2-3 reps the rj model might be better suited to you.  Of course, there are many other issues to consider.  In either case, go talk to the local managers/producers.  Additionally, some of your peers should be able to give you some good information on those offices in your area.
