Lets just be real here.
Regionals are nice.
they have a place in small town America.
nice little firms where guys doing 500k think they are big doggies.
It is a lot like AAA ball or NFL Europe.
Not the bigs…but nice.
Through all of this…the wires are for the TRUE rainmakers.
we all know it.  someone just had to say it.
it is not bad.
go out and knock on your doors.
sign up your teachers and union worker
bust butt and do your 300 jingles
go to Rotary.  not a bad life

It’s really a shame you have no idea what you are talking about with the smaller firms!

Isn’t this the same Shania Schmuck who posted thousands of posts in a 3 month period of time.  Most of them during the day.  Get a life.  What a loser.  Posting something like this just trying to get a rise out of people because he thinks it is fun to stir the pot.  Can  you believe that there are actually people who trust him with thier life savings?

I was talking to a Jones guy and he said he never turns down any small account since they may win the lottery or get an inheritance, but in the meantime 99% of the small accounts waste your time.  So I somewhat agree with your point, but do agree that some very large producers are going indie and to the regionals as well these days.

According to reports the smaller firms are gathering assets and a great clip than the big wirehouses.

Your right, they are the rainmakers.  There is so much crying going on at the wires that it is actually raining…

Through all of this…the rainmakers with confidence in their futures are going independent.  Who needs the wirehouse?  Is the name really worth 25% of your revenue ($250K difference on a $1.0M business…not chump change)?  Certainly the names have not played well with clients over the last 2-3 years.   Schwab and Fidelity have at least as good a name as the big 4 wirehouses…probably better (just ask your clients).  Independent shops are for advisors who think like business people.  we all know it.  someone just had to say it.
