I have no work experience but a degree & a CMA (Certified Management Accountant ) in progress but no one will even interview me as I have no work experience? Please don’t suggest pursue accounting as I h ate it.

I am not sure if I can survive Jones’ cold walking given my juvenille athritis on my feet & legs. On the other hand I doubt I’m ‘good enough" for the "cold calling " at ML, UBS & some bigger wirehouses.

IS THERE A MEDIUM between Jones’ “humiliating” cold walking & ML’s “Harvard only, 3.9 GPA”???

Fidelity and Vanguard.

BTW, you've got to give more time than 10 minutes for people to choose to respond to you.

Thanks I wasnt aware of Fidelity & Vanguard. I’m assuming they are "cold calling " not “cold walking” right?

Thanks Skippy!

How do you expect to get an interview with a Canadian firm if you’re in the Netherlands?

You’re ‘not aware of Fidelity and Vanguard’ and you think you’re going to get a job in the investment business?

Are you aware of the “New York Stock Exchange”?  How about “mutual funds”?  Do those terms mean anything to you?

Of course I have heard of the NYSE. But I’m kinda new @ this. Joe…this is unfair coz I doubt u are aware of ALL the firms out there.

Please in the spirit of “goodwill” keep the answers coming. I NEED a job!

True but Vanguard and Fidelity are pretty well known, and you need to do your homework before doing interviews.  Just my opinion

Have you considered talking to banks? Many have lobby brokers. I have not worked in that environment, but there are several on these boards that have experience that they may be able to share.

Sure… my 2 cents is that you should look into another industry.  Perhaps a manicurist?

Why on earth would I hire you? For all your whining, you haven’t once mentioned what you can offer a firm. Until you know that, you have (and will receive) nothing.

I realize that’s a bit harsh, but ultimately that’s where it lives.

This is what I offer. I’m intelligent, ambitious & hardworking.

Thanks Illonoisrep

I have a bit of a unique situation. I have lived in Canada on & off but will be moving there for 3yrs but unfortunately I'm   not as well versed with their financial "institutions" as much as I would like. I have no idea which banks are "softer" in that they take mediocre grades, mediocre school. I'm generally well aware of the big wirehouses but those are obviously outta reach until I have experience.

Any bank recommendations?

Thanks!

An employer has nothing more than your word for that, and it’s been my experience that it’s virtually always a lie. So you expect a broker/dealer to front many thousands of dollars to train and keep you for the years it would take until you’re profitable, and this based upon an unproven statement by an unknown quantity (which would be you!)? As I said: You’ve got nothing.

How about this…why don’t you offer to sign a note for, say, $200,000 to reimburse the firm should you turn out to be not so ‘intelligent, ambitious & hardworking’? That way you’d be sharing the risk that you’re asking the firm to take.
