I've been thinking about my career at Edward Jones lately.  I've been thinking about it alot.  I've been thinking about what I've read on this site.  I've been thinking about what I've written on this site.  What i've written, it is all true.  GP gets this, LP gets that, this turd inherited this, I didn't get that.  GP, LP, inherited office, blah, blah, blah.

In fact i've been thinking about the posts on this site 18 times a day, about three days a week....depending on the weather.  I've been mulling all this crap in my head as my golf score breaks 100 on a Grand National Championship golf course and I've come to some conclusions:

GP?  It's just too dang time consuming.  LP?  I'm a stock jock.  I don't want no stinking bond.  Inherited office?  Too much grief from the non-grossing portion of the book.  My new/new status gives me freedom.  Freedom to build it the way I WANT.

Eddie Jones likes to  emphasize time with family, and will pay for some of it too.  Jones doesn't care what you do, as long as you produce.  I go eat lunch with my kids, and then I go play golf, at 11am.  I catch more people at home on the phone after 5 pm anyway.

I got a cell phone. I got an assistant.  Need to make a trade, call my cell phone.  How is that for personal service?  You say you want to buy some GE?  What is it trading at?  Well do you want to buy it, or are you planning on carrying it on your back for 100 miles?   Do you plan on selling in 55 nano seconds, or do you want to use it to help you retire?

I utilize the Jones philosophy: buy high quality and hold it for the long-term.  My clients ain't day trading.  If they want to day trade, let them go to Fee-trade, I mean E-Trade.  We're making money the old-fashioned way.  Need to reach me?  Call my cell phone.  I've got text messaging baby.

Do you know how much money I find around a nice golf course from 8am-4pm?  Anyone ever hear of retirees?  Do any of you know why the rich ones ain't answering the door during the day?  Because they are golfing.  Door knocking?  I ain't one at a timing here, I'm mass-communicating.

GP, LP?   I say give em all a damn raise.  Just tell them to get the hell outta of the way of my perfect fade, cause I ain't giving up my slice of this freedom pie for nothing.

If you busted ass som bitches don't ever read another one of my posts on this site again, it is because I am too damn tired from swinging my clubs to write.

My damn feet hurt....spiked shoes are a mother.

Sounds like you're pretty happy. You may want to loosen your golf grip a little. Your left hand should be using about the same strength as you would use to shake a ladies hand and your right hand is only on the club so that it has a place to be during the swing. It'll help you get through the ball more smoothly and you'll pick up more clubhead speed and a nice draw.

If I might take a swipe at it…I think he’s pointing out that for all the bitching on this form EdJones can be a decent place to do business if your attitude is right and you focus on what you can control…your own behavior.

While some of the “holier than thou” stuff that comes out of EdJ grates on me, I think he’s 100% right.

EDJeh,

Sounds great, but if you're posting this stuff at 2:39 am you may be "thinking" about your EJ career a little too much.

He just finished his 25 “ask for the order”…

Apr 27, 2007 3:50 pm

He’s on his way out…guaranteed…Kerko never made it

The people at LPL stay out of my way too...and I take almost 70% home after expenses.

Better yet, my feet don't hurt...

...and you still don't know what real freedom is...RIAs would argue that I don't either.

EDJehovah is now a ranger at the local par-3.

Mr. EDJ-

I too used to get up in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep well thinking or maybe fretting over how to make a living with the GP's taking so damn much, and the decks stacked against me.I know how you feel.

When the pain of staying is worse than the pain of leaving, then and only then will you will make your move.
