Borker, pull your pants down and you’ll figure out you’ll always be in JV. If we are the minors I’ll take it and make no excuses: "Edward Jones again was named the No. 1 full service brokerage firm in the August edition of SmartMoney

magazine. The firm placed ahead of six other firms and received high

marks in the four categories surveyed by the magazine: stock picking,

customer satisfaction, trust and customer statements. Edward Jones,

which also ranked No. 1 in 2005, received five-star ratings in client

statements and customer satisfaction. (August 2007)"SUCK ON THAT HATERS

I’m picturing R. Lee Ermey shouting at us all on the board (crazed Marine D.I. from “Full Metal Jacket”) as I read WeMe’s posts.

I keep thinking that this has got to be some ex-Jonesie trying to stir up some action.  I’m laughing as I keep reading.  Spears, damn it…is that you?!!

Can you dispute anything I’ve said?  I am only reporting the facts of Jones. Being INDY is a fine path but it’s not the only one and the aloof attitude of some wears thin.

Seems like they changed the mixture in the kool-aid. WeMe, explain this to me, because I was at jones and I still don’t understand. What is Edward Jones? Wire, Regional, Indy, Some version of online TD Ameritrade?. The examples you site no one cares about(Don’t tell me you pick stocks based on what Smart Money says). You talk about the empowerment of working for a company than you counteract that by suggesting you run your own office(which you clearly don’t). You are right when i retire my company name will probably come down, but I will have walked away the proceeds from my business. What do you get for building something for EDJ, split comp your last 3 years???

Jul 20, 2009 1:11 pm

PS… you forgot to mention this about your great company…

"Edward D. Jones & Co. received $82.4 million in secret payments from seven mutual-fund firms in the first 11 months of 2004, through a lopsided fee structure that in some cases gave the brokerage firm more compensation for selling poorly performing funds than for selling stellar performers.

The disclosures were posted yesterday, on Jones’s Web site as required by its $75 million agreement to settle regulatory charges that it failed to adequately disclose the payments to investors. They are by far the most detailed figures ever made public on the industry practice of mutual-fund companies paying brokerage firms to induce them to sell their products, an arrangement known as revenue sharing. Unlike front-end sales commissions, which are widely disclosed to consumers, revenue sharing has been largely secret.

LockEDJ:

Excuse me … exactly how are you comparing a company with independents?

I mean, if I’m an indy … then by definition I don’t want to be part of 12000 employees. I’m at a loss. What are you trying to prove? That Jones is better than Merrill Lynch or MSSB? That’s an argument.

Bingo!!! Give the man a prize.  As long as this forum has been in existence, way before I came around, indy folks have been bashing EDJ & EDJ folks have been bashing indy guys.  One of these days more people than LockEDJ will have figured out that it is an excercise in futility to debate whether indy or EDJ is better.    WeddleMe - shut up.  Go away.  Please.    If everyone else will stop posting and just ignore him, this thread will die tomorrow and we'll not have to worry about it again.  Then if he posts another one, just ignore that one too.

I agree with Spiff. Just ignore his posts and they will stop. Nothing positive can come of this thread.

You didn’t stay at a holiday inn last night.

Prove I didn’t

EDJ #1 … I have facts, you have opinions.

Weddle Me:

I’ve not compared Edward Jones, the #1 company to work for, to a crappy Indy office with no assistant, bad furniture, and a dank smell.

Hmmmm, licensed assistant, brand new custom designed office (designed by client), professionally decorated (by one of my clients), beautiful furniture (several pieces custom built by a client); all of this located in THE landmark professional building located within THE landmark professional development; I participated in the development, and best of all, own the building which currently has 100% occupancy tied up in 5-year leases at $23/sq. ft. 3N with built in increases the last two years.  That's right, bizatch, OWN the building outright--i.e no mortgage.    My office also smells like leather thanks to some device that my wife brought in.  Clients love that in addition to the beautiful floral arrangements, fresh baked goods, and artisan chocolates often found at our office.    All of that, and I regularly sell covered calls and buy puts to protect client capital, too, being the predatory risky bastard that I am.  (Wink, wink)   WeMe, just imagine all of that......and then suck on it, Punk!

Answer me this … was Jones a worse company last year, when Raymond James was #1?

Ok, here’s a lie… June 2009 issue of Smart Money names Raymond James as the best full service brokerage firm. Look for yourself http://raymondjames.com/pdfs/smartmoney_top_ranking.pdf

You also neglected to mention that EDJ’s J.D. Powers results have dropped from your previous ranking. Oh my who would have guessed again top honors did not go to the cult.

Weddle Me, you seem to believe Jones Offices are the envy of the Indy world. I used to have a Jones office. There is nothing spectacular about Jones offices. They all look alike. You all have the same furniture, similar signage, art work and carpeting. You are like the Burger King of the investment world. I will take my office over a Jones office anytime. Plenty of room for my two assistants and my business partner. I have nice furniture, hardwood flooring and crown molding. Oh and one more thing I get to keep much more of what I make than you.

Get over your bad self already…

Jul 21, 2009 1:19 am

Wired, Wired, Wired … This is what I’m talking about.  You’re little three person office is supposed to impress the investment gods?  Your post reeks of righteousness.  Instead of saying Edward Jones is a good business model you seek to tear us down by calling us “The Burger King” of the investment world.  WE MADE YOU!  You’d still be selling books door to door without Edward Jones.  Remember that next time you’ve got to fix your offices AC. Show respect to your daddy.

How is it to work with Amish clients?
Jul 21, 2009 1:31 am

Their money is green, too!  How is to know that you are enabling a grown man’s pitiful addiction to BrylCreem?  As Spears would say, “Just Askin’”.

Jul 21, 2009 1:35 am

Man up and prove what you said.  If you are successful … prove it.  Jones success is proven every day, every week, etc. etc. etc. etc. since 1922.  Anyone can post on here and tell me HOW great that are.  MAN UP

Geez I sure hope this is Windy/MJ…otherwise there are 2 (at least) of these guys on here…there are some humble Jones FA’s that realize that there are positives and negatives to both Jones, Indy and all other types of shops!
