Thinking of leaving current b/d & am looking hard at Cambridge.  Has anyone looked and decided NOT to go with them? If so, what did you see/experience that made you opt for another firm?

An OK clearing firm, but has a small group of independents that clear thru them. Better off finding a channel on the independent side that uses Pershing or Charles Schwab. You may need the strong clearing channel so that your clients have stability with the brand name. Who the hell knows the Cambridge brand? Take a look at Cambridge financials vs. Pershing, Charles Schwab or even Wedbush Morgan. It's a major decison to go independent, and be sure to give your client base the best.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback.  Did you look at them & opt elsewhere?  Cambridge DOES clear through Pershing...they also offer the Fidelity platform as well.  I like having the choice as they both seem to actively court advisors by updating/competing their offerings.

"Brand": here's a word I'm sick to death of hearing!  I'm currently with a national firm that says "brand" more that the word "the."  One of the major reasons I'm considering indy is to separate the personal service I provide from these clunky, one-size-fits-all concepts.  At the end of the day it's my fanny in the sling so I want credit for my good work and I'll pass on the collateral damage of national lawsuits from the other knobs that work for this group.

Looks like your doing your homework and on the right track for success. Keep up the good work, and always have the client first attitude. Best to you, sounds like you will do great.
