eoddata.com- Enjoy.

Would have posted sooner Moraen, but I am sick of these kids
I downloaded the data for the 16th for the global indices at eoddata.com.

Out of 648 indices, 42 were negative, for 6.4% of all global indices are negative.

I then loaded the NASDAQ data in and calculated the percentage change for each security.

There were 2894 stocks trading on the 16th for the NASDAQ.  804 of them were negative, meaning that only 27% of the NASDAQ stocks were negative.

I then loaded the NYSE data in and calculated the percentage change.

There were 3198 stocks trading on the 16th on the NYSE.  893 were negative, meaning that 27.9% of the the NYSE stocks were negative.

I then formulated the hypothesis that the global exchanges would have a percentage similar to the NYSE and NASDAQ, because their variability is not significantly different.  However when I tried to access the Australia and London exchanges it told me I needed a higher membership level.

And since I can't see it while typing this, I'm not sure if the original question referred to Global or U.S.  But unless I get the data, I'll just have to go with that on November 16th, only 27% of all U.S. stocks were negative, adjusted for outliers, both positive and negative.

That’s why I like debating with you.  The last few pages of this thread were completely useless until you made that post.

If howboutshoeshine’s goal here was to get people to waste their own time, then he has won.

It really didn’t take me that long, and it was an interesting process.  Simply download the .csv file into JMP, click analyze, and voila!

This kind of stuff interests me, so I actually should thank shoeshine for providing me with the distraction.

I think Shoeshine was trying to prove a point that you all missed.  There is a lot of bullish bs on here and maybe he just wanted to add some of that to the other side. I have read his posts for the last couple of months and there is no way he believed this.

Everyone stay calm…it doesn’t matter if you clients lose all of their money, the mkt averages 10 % over the past 100 years.

be carefull

Schizophrenia is a (biological) disease (of the brain) that ebbs & flows. Acute periods are called “relapses” when patients experience sensations that are an addition to their usual repertoire of feelings. Because they are additions, they are referred to as “positive symptoms” but they are far from positive in the sense of being wanted. They are the hallucinations, delusions & thought confusions which return periodically, triggered, probably, by a variety of stresses. They respond, in general, to decreased stimuli, calm interactions, & antipsychotic medicine.
Lou - Is it your purpose to not provide any value at all?

It seems you have no solutions, only problems.  Most of which are yours.  You spend your time attempting to track down people on this forum and for what?  So you can amuse yourself outing them?

Or is it because you want to see their picture and jack off to it?

Does your Mom not love you anymore?  Or that your Dad loved you too much?

Or are you the product of genetic mosaicism and can't figure out if you are male or female?

Your responses are juvenile, and you think that you know more than you actually do.  From your angry post against the guy advertising leads, you must be in the business.  But you must not do very well.  Is that anger a product of getting fired?

Are you a guy who got fired from a wire and thought they "went Indy" and now are collecting welfare and food stamps?  Are you posting from a basement or maybe you are from Nigeria and are not smart enough to actually put out a scam letter.  At least those will garner better responses than you've been receiving.

I don't post much, but my suggestion to you is to find a place where people will care about what you think.  It will give your ego a much needed boost and maybe you won't be such an asshole.
