New forum member here.  I just joined a wirehouse training program and was wondering if there are any other former traders around.  The mindset seems completely different so far.

What are you fucking talking about??? The mindset is totally different... Um no shit. Kinda like the mindset of Mike Tyson and Ghandi are totally different.

Prop trading has 100% to do with security analysis, selection, and trading.

Our job has 0% to do with that. Our job barely even requires a basic knowledge of what a security even is.

Per are salesmen. I hope you didn't move from pt to this because you were going to help people with their investments???

Yeah what Hardcore said. You don't have to be a luxury car driver/race car driver/stuntman/mechanic to sell cars. you just have to know more than the customer and most importantly be able to influence people. Of course being a race car driver wouldnt hurt in selling sports cars but it is unneccesary .

Those FAs that fancy themselves Portfolio Managers or Traders are wannabes.

We just sell products and solutions to clients. We are important only because we actively make contact and get clients to act and thus keep the industry going. That is all.
