a lot

1. How she started her career

2. How she became successful

3. How she is continuing to be successful

4. Why she enjoys her career

How she became successful?  Why do you think she's successful?

Why she enjoys her career?  She's talking about quitting and wondering if she'll have to repay her training costs.

Does that sound like somebody who is either successful or enjoying it?

she simply stated she became successful. Maybe her measure of success and mine are different, but as long as she feels she is successful it is all that matters.

maybe she wants to quit where she is working from and reap the even greater benefits of working independently

I went back to look. She never says she became successful--she says she does not fear talking to  her clients.  That could mean her husband and her brother--we have no way of knowing.

She has no desire to go independent, she's only been in the business for a number of weeks and has enough sense to know she could not make it as an indy for a number of years.

Additionally she talks all the time about how easy it is to just slide over to the independent channel at Ray Jay--and I suppose it is.  So why in the world would she jump ship and go to LPL or any of the other indy B/Ds?  Yet she still asks questions that only occur to somebody who is planning to quit.

See, you have to read between the lines and pay attention to everything that is being said all the time.

NASTY NEWBIE- What part of this do you have trouble understanding?

Or do you have a respect problem  in general?

We already KNOW you have a problem with women... so move on....

The first few years were very hard on me because I somehow felt that I was cheating my family.  My kids were getting so big so fast, and I simply felt that I was absent too much.  So, I pared the bottom 60-65% of my book to a trusted associate (for nothing on a handshake) to pursue another business opportunity that a couple of my clients in the top 35-40% brought to me.  I made more money than I could have ever imagined while continuing in the business "part-time" with a group of "low maintenance" clients that understand financial markets and their ups and downs.  Believe it or not, my assets grew by more than 200% during 2004-05 from that core group of clients.

My other business venture has since wound down, and I'm back to 3/4-full time, picking and choosing folks that I would really like to work with.  I don't have account minimums, or any of that bullsh*t.  I just insist that people have realistic expectations of the financial markets, and that they give me the latitude to do my job.  I'm having fun, making enough money, and continuing to hone my skills at this ever-changing career.  I wouldn't be telling the truth if I didn't admit to looking for the next "dynamic opportunity" outside of the business, but I haven't found it yet.  I may never find it, and that's okay too.  I'm to the point financially that I don't have to take risks.

I would also note that the compliance headache has certainly become the biggest "buzz-kill" to doing business over the last few years.  The regulators are trying to make investors feel "safe" again, but as far as I'm concerned, they've focused on the wrong things--stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.  My .02.....

If you had another company recruiting you (NASD/PUT this would never happen because you are a mental midget) you would explore your options.  You always look and ask.  That is what this forum is for.

Just for the record, I brought in close to $1m last month and I have $800k on the books for this month already..

I do not strive to have numerous accounts.  My average account size is right around $300,000.

Honestly, your life would be much nicer if you treated people well.  Haven't you realized by now that people will treat you as you treat them?  Did you fail Kindergarten?  TRY to be nice, see if you are not a happier person.

OH, and see if you don't get more customers.  It works well for me.

Bees and Honey.

Brotherk I am very dissappointed there is no High Five smiley icon, cause I would be sending one to you.

soothsayer that was just golden material you have there.  A much different route than what is usually taken I guess.  I'm actually thinking about doing something similar when I start my path as an FA.

maybeeee hi5 right back at yah

newbie I really like your way of thinking sometimes but your just pushing it.
