What about REALLY cold walking?

I live in the Philly area and it's starting to get very cold.  Does the fact that I'm out there in 20-30 degree weather make me look like a maniac? desperate? motivated?  Or, does the weather have no effect on what people think?   A few people have commented on how cold it is to be out going door-to-door, but I don't know if a lot don't say anything and are thinking, "I'm not giving my money to someone goofy enough to walk around in this weather."
Who the hell cares if a few people won't work with you because you're door knocking in cold weather?  Fact is, door knocking works.  It seems to me you're focusing on pleasurable methods instead of pleasurable results (thanks anonymous).  Your job when you start in this business is to get in front of as many people as possible on a daily basis.  Your job is NOT to sit in front of a Bloomberg monitor, looking for the next "can't miss" investment.

Just make sure you have a decent pen.  Some pens will freeze in cold weather. I've had that happen.

Also, I have never doorknocked when it is REALLY cold, or when it was snowing, but I knew some IR's from up north that did. They said that they were frequently invited in due to the cold weather, in which case their conversation was much more involved. That's usually a good thing.

Here’s another tip:

Buy this list for your area: http://www.melissadata.com/listnewmovers.htm   I would make a map of the new homeowners, and go doornock them.  I would also knock the neighbor's on both sides and across the street.  When you knock the new homeowners, you obviously welcome them to the area. And, when you knock the neighbors, you say that you are welcoming their new neighbor and just wanted to stop by and introduce yourself. It works fairly nicely.   It's not a bad list, and it's fairly cheap.

I doorknocked in the snow for two months(near canada) and it was terrible, I finally wised up and got a list and covered more ground with less frostbite.
