Man I work with the government and we know that there is about to be a massive retirement over the next 10 years. The bottom line is many of these employees have worked for 30 years. They will get 60% of income. Some will be a contracted job doing the same tasks with additional income.
BankFC, I completly agree with you about being better (more knowledgable?), right place or being connected.
As for "add value" I was not aware of wholesalers promoting this...
Joe,
I love it. Same crap recycled over and over again. When I was a newbie at ML I was jealous that the wholesalers passed us in the bull pen by for the folks with offices (office = $250,000 min production where I was). Now, I could have dinner paid for twice a week if I wanted, although I'd rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard than to listen to one more wholesaler that hasn't ever even been a broker talk to me about whatever.
Damn salesmen.

[/quote]Amen brother. I changed to indy about 9 months ago and apparently my name is just getting on to the wholesalers' lists as a 'new broker' with my current firm. I'm getting creamed with phone calls and emails asking for mailings. Today, too, I had a breakfast, and pretty much had to pull most of the info I wanted out of this guy. About all he was good for was to pick up the damn check.
Ugh.
Not that all of them are bad. But a lot of them are.....
Glad to hear that others agree that wholesalers are nothing but a distraction from our real job…Gathering assets.
