People,

Will you please post the insurance co. you work for, how you like it, pros and cons, etc?

I work for a commercial insurer and I'm getting bored with it.  I want to get into investments and personal insurance products.

Much Appreciated!

I would suggest looking at the large mutual companies like Guardian, MassMutual, NY Life, and Penn Mutual.  They're mutual companies, so they answer to policy holders (your clients), not stock holders.

Find an agency in your area that you feel most comfortable with from a culture standpoint.  This is the most important IMO.  All the aforementioned companies can sell the same products, but it is the local culture that will be important.  If I were you, I would cold call the GA and find out more information.  It'll show you have initiative.

I"m not comfortable posting that on a public board. Can I just post my social security number and you can do the rest?

You could always call St Louis Veterans Affairs and ask for my 201 file.

Actually I will be working for Beneficial Financial Group. Awesome company and well respected. They offer the complete umbrella so it is up to me to decide where I want to focus my business.

Just selling insurance would IMO feel rather limiting. I can understand if you are looking to expand your service profile.

Please do.  I won't tell anyone.

Newby,

I can't comment on Penn Mutual, but 4 that you must interview are:

MassMutual, Guardian/Berkshire, New York Life, Northwestern Mutual

If you interview with them, I'll take the time to give you the pluses and minuses of each.
