I’m an experienced individual investor, but lack professional experience at managing money. Over the years, and through extensive research, I have developed a compelling niche investing system. I’m thinking on breaking into the portfolio management business by forming a RIA that provides outsourcing portfolio management for advisors and planners. I would do the stock research and portfolio management and reporting, while the planners or advisors own the client relationships.

Is this model viable? If my product is good enough, will some RIAs be willing to outsource their clients money to my small boutique investment shop operating as a RIA, which spends 100% of its resources researching and investing in stocks? What would I be expected to pay as referral fees?
