What do VARIABLE ANNUITY Wholesalers make when a FA sells their company's variable annuity product. For example, if you sold a $500,000 annuity to MetLife with a 6% up front and 1% trail at year 4....how much does the wholesaler make on you bringing in the $500,000? I've always been curious about this.

Very easy answer. Eleventy kabillion dollars.

Why don't you call your wholesaler and ask?  While they seem to sometimes be vague about the way they get paid, I'm sure a direct question would get you the answer you're looking for.

Congrats on a great ticket.  $30K gross upfront and then, if we assume no market growth, another $35K through year 10.  Not a bad way to make a living.
