I’ve gotten more e-mails about what to wear at our summer regional in a few weeks than about helping me grow my business.

Is it always this way?

Jun 23, 2009 2:13 pm

Yes. But you will enjoy it. All kinds of kool-aid drinking.

“It’s a great time to be in this business. And an even better time to be at Edward Jones”.

“At no other firm will you get this level of support”

“My son-in-law can tell you, it’s like taking candy away from a baby getting those statements”.

“My nephew will show you what’s working for all you seg 1’s and 2’s”

“All you Seg 3’s looking to get the next level, you should talk to Andy, my son… he made it Seg 4 in less than two years from Can-sell… he’ll show you how”

“I’ll get drunk and attempt to grope your wife, so that it will be ok”.

“I don’t understand why anybody would want to leave this place… Jones is the best place to be. Those independent guys screwed themselves”.

All kinds of alcohol. "Blame it on the vodka, blame it on the Henny, blame on the ahahaha alcohol!"

Enjoy. They are usually at nice places.

Seriously?  Either your RL is a weany, or you have people in your region that clearly don't know how to dress.  I don't think we've had ANY e-mails about how to dress.

The abundance of alcohol is the only thing that gets me through the regionals.   I think even a car salesmen convention would be less corny.

I've gotten no less than 6 e-mails about it, just thought it was a bit strange - must just be my region.

Can't afford to drink right now .. unless Miller High Life is on tap!

Borker, why do you stay with Jones if you hate it so?  I don't understand.

Small town. No other options without moving. Stay tuned…

This is funny because it's true!  Love the Jamie Foxx reference.    Volt, go and enjoy it and pray you're around for the next one also.

Jun 23, 2009 4:53 pm

I only read - and believe - whatever Jones tells me in Uptick News.

Everything else is just white noise.

No wirehouses hungry for a quality guy like yourself?      volt - I got zero wires or emails on dress code for this regional meeting.  I had to call a buddy and ask him if he had heard anything.  He hadn't either.  Must be your RL.

No indys, banks with brokerage departments or wirehouses.   Just a couple of EIA slangers and that's it.
Jun 23, 2009 8:18 pm

Jones is terrible and everyone else in town is “slangin EIA’s”.  Wow, everyone in town must have been run into the ground financially.  How is everyone surviving?

Jun 23, 2009 8:24 pm
The EIA slangers are doing VERY well for themselves selling against this market, and I guess I have to admit that their clients haven't lost money -- unlike mine, to whom I sold boatloads of American Funds.    And I never said Jones is terrible.

I think it’s a regional thing.  They’re worried about you guys who live in the South showing up  in jorts and a Dale Earnhardt Intimidator T-shirt with the sleeves cutoff

I think it’s a newbie deal. I’ve got quite a few too, but they have been directed to first time Summer Regional guys. The older guys may not be getting them. You might have alot of lost newbies asking questions…

Why does everyone need to know how to dress?  Is this kindergarten?
