Ok heres the sitch,

I have been out of the cold calling game for a long time now. Changing firms, weak economy, & lackluster work ethic have put me in a position i do not want to be in which is to be going back and cold calling again to rebuild my business. I have no choice. Either I hit the phones hard and rebuild or wither away and be relegated to a low income job and an unhappy life. Money is good. spending money on fun activities is even better. Since I like to have fun I need money and lots of it! Divorce in NJ sucks if you are a man and the courts will suck every last penny out of you until you are living on the street. Don't believe me....try it some time....lol!!

My purpose in writing this log is for duel purposes. 1) To hold myself accountable and 2) to give others a real world glimpse as to what it takes to make it as a broker/FA. I started Cold calling over 18 years ago and built a good sized business grossing over 400k per year. Divorce and the economy, that and dating hot women off of match.com(man do I have some good stories), I lost my focus and have been coasting off the remains of my book brought over from my old firm. It is time to take stock and begin the rebuilding process. I have tried mass mail seminars with terrible results, even while using a mailing and followup service. I have tried the netoworking thing with limited results, I have tried mailing and followup with limited results. I need to build and build today. I do not have the patience to wait for someone for six months to make up their mind over buying a 25k mutual fund. I need people who can make a decision in relatively short order. I originally cold called when building my first book and am mentally preparing myself to do it again.

Back to this journal. I am initially write a daily journal at the end of each day recapping what I did for that day I will recap Dials, connections, new prospects, callbacks, closed accounts, mailings sent and a summary of notable calls. I hope by doning this exercise it will help me become better at cold calling and getting the sale. In the end, results are all that matters! I will begin calling after the july 4th weekend. Right now I am studying for my CRPC I take it June 30. I hope I pass this f...ing thing.

Give me feedback if there are other things you would like to see in my daily post. Things that I may not have thought of to include. I will try to make my real world experience as useful to all those who want to use cold calling as the primary means of building a business. Take care and good luck!

What licenses do you have and what will your script be? Will you be pushing process or product? Who exactly are you calling and how did you source them?

I currently hold my series 7,31,63 & 65. I plan on calling groups with known money. Doctors, Dentists, Lawyers and small business owners will be my primary focus. I am going to call exclusively with product for three months and then evaluate my results. I am going to call with a bond or a high quality preferred. I will stick with it and see How I do. I will let you guys know the results close to  real time on a daily basis.

This is just my experiment to keep track of how well cold calling works.

Ok,

Starting next week I will be on the phones hard core. Yikes. It has been awhile since I have made serious number of cold calls. I am curious to see how it will  work.

You have done it before so you will do great. After your first week you will be a little beat up from rejection, but looking forward to the weekend. Then Sunday evening will come and you will go "ish! I have to do this all over again!" haha
