New to the forum, but I've already learned a lot from you guys while pouring over all the threads in the this section. After going through the interview process with Merrill Lynch over the past month and a half, they made me an offer last week to join their PMD program. The recruiter and BOM's assistant that I've been working with have answered the majority of my questions, but I haven't been able to get a solid answer on the typical time frame for going into production.

Does anyone here know at what point in the training program I could expect to go into production at Merrill? Are we talking weeks, a month, 4 months, 6 months, etc.? I am currently unlicensed and new to the industry.

I don’t have any experience with ML. It took me 1.5 months to study forseries 7. I was also full time student, dad of two young boys. I passed with an upper 80s score, so I suppose I “overstudied” and could have taken it sooner. I would guess the time frame considering getting all paperwork submitted/ approved etc. You could expect 1.5-4 months from start date to production. You also have to do some firm element training. ML probably takes longer than most firms. Some are as short as a week, some 6 weeks.

Again, I’m not the right guy to give you ML info. Sometimes this forum is SLOW. I figure some feedback is better than no feedback.

You'll have about 4 months to get your licenses and get geared up, you'll get your production #, then 3 months of initial lead generation/prospecting activity with minimal goals, and then the clock starts.  In total 7 months from your start date and you'll be in full production.
