After deciding to be a lurker for a few months and reading everyone's perspectives to help ME study for the 7 and 66, I decided that I should contribute a post to anyone studying or will be studying in the near future.

Just like many people on here, I used Training Consultants for both tests... And passed both on my first try. My opinion is fresh - just took the 66 today and the 7 one month ago. My opinion is the following: use TC.

I got an 89% on the Series 7. Used the online class through TC and was told to go to a class. My company paid for the STC class since TC didn't have classes in my area (they are only offered in Southern California). I took the STC class and had some practice tests with them and honestly they were pointless. I didn't learn anything and actually failed some of the practice tests through them.  The actual test was more similar to how TC set up their questions.

On the Series 66 I got an 89% as well. Because I had such successful results with TC, I decided to use them again. I also had the ability to use my coworkers login for Kaplan's Q bank, where I took a couple practice tests and FAILED. The questions were very specific and didn't help me very much. Though my coworker used Kaplan exclusively, she was able to get an 83% on the actual exam (so some might find this vendor helpful). After reading other forum writers, I heard that the Q bank was helpful. However, in my opinion although they give you THOUSANDS of questions to "prepare" you, it was simply not efficient. On my actual test I counted how many questions that were similar to each vendor (yes I had extra time). There were 20 questions similar to TC questions and only 2 similar to Kaplan.

TC helps prepare you to pass the exam. If you haven't noticed, their books are always thinner and smaller than most vendors. This is because they are concise and get to the point. I liked them because they cut out the fluff. I don't want to learn more than what's being tested. I understand that some people like to get as much information as possible, but for me cutting straight to the point and not wasting my time was key.

Anyway - though this post was lengthy I just wanted to pay it forward.

Congratulations on passing the exams with plenty of room to spare. I totally get why someone would not want to learn more than what is on the test but no one knows exactly what will be on the test. I would rather learn more than I think will be on test because not only could it help you on the test it could also help you in your career.

Yes, I understand that knowledge is extremely important in the career itself. However, it is equally important to understand what is being tested and how to accurately prepare in order to pass a mandatory exam. Preparing the right way is incredibly important. Understanding what strategies are useful in order to pass is valuable.

did you supplement their q bank with anyone elses? I used for the 7 a different study material and supplemented with TC test bank but this time im going to do full on training with TC and their test bank…so I am curious to try another companies test bank as I like seeing different questions worded differently…(tired of spending money though)
think TC series 66 online and q bank is mor than enough?

Help! Has anyone had any luck with testeachers for the 66? I used Kaplan for the 7& failed twice. I got TT and passed with a 76. I’m signed up with TT now, (not TcTc) for the 66. I remember reading only 1 comment for test teachers in this thread. I was hoping to take my exam at the end of this month… Help!!
