Note: today is my 3rd day as an ex-Edward Jones Advisor…

I had a good laugh today when one of my prospects called my cell phone to tell me that another FA called her today. I said, I’m no longer with EJ (and being the BS king I am) said I’m with Merrill Lynch now (completely not true).
She responded, "Ok, we’ll work with you there instead."

I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience calling someone else’s prospects…because I have about 1,200 prospects on Joneslink and, honestly, there’s alot of fluff in there!!!

This wasn’t one of your Ed Jones CLIENTS, this was just a prospect?  LOL

We’ve had a rep that departed this spring (wife is a doctor and he’s going to stay at home with the kids) give us like 3 prospects he was working with because he wanted someone to follow up and figured someone should get the sale, but this was by his own choosing.

In this case they’re going through your old doorknocking and phone logs of people who never bought and calling these people to try to sell them?

Just so you know. Prospects do not transfer from one broker to another at EDJ. Once you’re gone, your prospects are deleted during the merge of your clients with whoever took over your clients… You’re clients are transferred,  but not prospects. So it was more than likely some coincidental situation. He/She probably had them on a call list.

Just curious, why would you lie to a prospect and tell them your with ML if you aren't? Our job is almost 100% trust. You totally screwed that, if you lie in the beginning.

Ronnie, the ML part wasn’t him telling a lie to a prospect.  It was a lie to us to preserve his anonymity.

Ahhhh. If that was the case, my bad. If not, shame on you!

I agree…shame on me!
She asked who I was with and I felt like I needed to say something other than “no one”.
But, it was definitely a prospect who got a call from someone from EJ.

So you did lie? Fired from EJ and lying to prospects. Find another job.
