Hey I know there are a ton of new MSSB guys as they have been on a hiring kick, and I am one of them.

I also have been reading on here Edward Jones hires like a revolving door and has been for some time.

I was think any good ways we could get the new MSSB guys to compete against the new EJ guys???  Then the loser is the true "hiring wh ore" as I've read on so many posts.

This is crazy … We have Windy and Still@jones. We’ve already won. The only wringer you have is MBA2FA and he’s busy eating lunches on the wholesalers.

Plus I doubt any of you MSSB guys look as good in rainboots as Ms.Broker.

Nope. To get the reach around, you have to have at least a $100k gross month like Windy.

I look much better in leopard print thong silky underwear.  I can make them the edible kind if you like?

this is a pro EJ site…so granted there are going to be more EJ supporters on here.  I think i’d go with MSSB over EJ.  I work at an indie and love it, but i had an EJ secretary call me because “my resume came accross the advisors desk” and wanted to schedule an interview.

i took the interview, went in and had some dude with an 80's stache tell me how great it is there and how he has his own office and sits in his office all day by himself.  He then whipped out his diversification trip book and showed me all the great destinations they can go and made sure to tell me gf's aren't allowed.    He then gave me a folder with a cd and told me if i was interested to log on to some website and fill out a survey.  was a great interview, glad i prepared answers and everything.   I would probably take a job at MSSB over EJ.  I went in to their office and they were friendly guys who are all extremely successful judging by the cars in their parking lot!   (P.S. not trying to bash jones, i also read this forum on a regular basis and know that there are very succesful people that work there, as noted in many prior posts, not the place for me)

You read this forum on a regular basis and still say that it is a pro-EDJ site?  Really?

First, you have to understand that what car you drive has NOTHING to do with how successful you are.  The most successful guy in our region drives a not so new Trailblazer or whatever GM is calling it these days.  In fact there are only two guys in our region that drive anything German.  One is a newer FA who is doing pretty well, but he's single and c***y.  I'd expect him to drive a BMW.  The other got a used Mercedes with low mileage for under $20K.  Our cars sit in our parking lots all day long.  What's the point of driving your $60K car to work just to get door dinged?   Second, the Jones FA's only job in that instance is to see if you're OK enough to pass on to the application process.  There are quite a few steps beyond that one.  You might not even make it past the phone interview.    Both are good companies.  Just depends on what you're looking for.

mssb is a more snobby culture than jones. jones people are a lot more friendly.

jones has got to be the only big time firm where guys walk around with porn staches.  every other firm is clean shaven

well of course there are the haters, but i’d say there are a large amount of jones advisors and supporters on here as well.  I used the car example more as a joke, so relax.  Like i said, i’m not bashing on jones, it just wasn’t for me.  for what it’s worth i’ve heard you can speak little english and still get past the phone interview.  I chose not to pursue it because i didn’t want to leave the firm i’m with.

my purpose for posting was more or less to point out that Jones advisors wouldn't want to compete because that is why they work for jones, to keep to themselves.  as an example, a personal example, i find it motivating to come into work and hear other advisors making dials and generating leads and opening accounts.  It makes me want to work that much harder to match or exceed what they are doing.  You can't do that at jones, that's why it wasn't for me.

Edward Jones only recruits the best of the best. It is more difficult to get a job with my company than getting in at Harvard.
