Last interview with Complex Manager…any suggestions or comments?  Anything in particular I should expect?  Thanks.

ALSO...what are the new advisor benefits like?  Health?  Tuition Reimbursement?  Blackberry?  Laptop?  Thanks in advance.

Seriously you shouldn’t be concerned with tuition reimbursement, cellphone or computer… All you are going to be doing is making contacts…

Tuition Reimbursement??? WTF?? Go teach 3rd grade public school

You are a regular comedian...wanted to know about a laptop and cell because I plan on working more than the standard hours...I want the ability to work anywhere.  Also regarding the tuition reimbursement, I apologize for having ambition to get my MBA and I would prefer to go to an expensive school locally.  I want them to pay for it.  It makes sense in my opinion.  Thank you though for the valuable feedback it is greatly appreciated.

Free Advice - dont ever ever say these things to the complex manager if you want the job. They are not paying for your bberry, they wont pay for your cellphone and they certainly wont pay for your MBA, expecially in the first few years when you should be out at networking events every night or on the phone in the office. They wont like it if you tell them you are calling clients from home on your cellphone. And they certainly wont think you are an entrepeneur if you want them to pay your business expenses before you show them anything. I was a producing manager at SB until just before the merger. I had a blackberry. They didnt pay for it. Trust me, they wont pay for yours either.

If you want a cell phone, car, and tuition reimbursement I would suggest being a pharma rep. Pharma reps also get a car and a credit card for expenses. In this business you need two things: A list of names and a phone. That’s it.  The MBA, in my opinion,  is not necessary.

You will get a salary, medical and dental benefits, and there is a decent 401k. That’s it. The rest is up to you. In this business you are entitled to nothing. You will earn everything you get. To quote judge smails, “you will get nothing and like it!” This is the best business in the world because you will be rewarded for the effort you put in.

HAHA…Thank you, finally some intelligent responses.  I would never say any of that to the complex manager.  I was just curious how it works.  I agree completely with you guys, it makes complete sense.  I can’t wait to get through this last step of the process.  Thank you very much for the insight.

I guess I'll put the MBA off until I have a giant book.  I want to surpass 30 million in 1.5 years in...we will see...haha

ML does give a cell phone discount, 8000k a year in tuition reimbersement and will pay up to 105k towards  an executive MBA.

That being said, none of things matter if you don't produce.

bullinchinashop, are you sure ml will pay up to 105k for an e mba?

Citi-Morg will hire him. It looks like he is breathing and able to fog a mirror.

Are you ever not an a$shole?

ML does that?  I wonder if MSSB does...  I realize it won't matter for awhile and I will need to produce for this to be considered.

ANYONE have any advice for the final interview with the complex manager at MSSB?  I'm nervous but the BM told me that it will just be a similar conversation as I had with him.  He was interested in hiring me after the first interview, since then I've just had to jump through 10 hoops...5 weeks ago it began...this process is long and brutal.

Took me 6 weeks to get hired.  Interviewed with the BM once and that was it.  Already have my 7 & 66 so maybe it a different process.  Background check took 5 weeks.  Have not met the  complex manager.

That’s crazy…I met the BM once for an actual interview then spoke with him a few times regarding the position and my business plan.  The background check took a couple of days and then they set up the interview with the complex manager.  That meeting is this week.  I’m hoping they let me know when I meet him.  I’m tired of this.  I just want to know…I turned down one position in hopes of getting this one.

I think it depends what side you are on. Had a friend interview with MSSB, interviewed with BM, then BM and some HR guy, then BM again for an offer… ML was different he interviewed with BM, then didn’t have to interview with complex manager… But the MSSB was old MS office…thinks it makes a difference.

Well it’s the SB side.

This process does take awhile!  I expect to get an offer this week, as I just sent over 2008 income info for them to formulate an offer.  I think it is pretty interesting that I haven’t even met with the BM or higher yet?  I know quite a few brokers within the office and I had a good meeting with the Asst BM.  Should be interesting??  What salary offers have you guys heard of recently?

What kind of milestones & the time frame did they give you?

Oct 19, 2009 8:25 pm

I need to pull in over 30 million in 3 years.

Oct 19, 2009 8:26 pm

I’ve heard salaries generally start at 40 k but it depends on experience, etc.
