So let me ask this, did anyone READ the contract they signed?  Do you believe that when your client signs a contract they should be held to that contract too?  Are you telling me you did not know what you were getting into?

Jones is not my favorite place to work, there can be situations that can cause problems in training---but two months--give me a break!

I am a Indy and a Registered Principal of my branch--I am hiring new blood---however, I would not hire anyone who could not live up to a contract and make it at a great training program like Jones.  Six months is nothing--three years is a walk in the park!  Time to get real with your life---maybe sales is not your bag---I can appreciate that...but no matter where you go or how you manage money--you are a sales person!!!!!!!!!

Ok two things... first stop already about the jones training(american funds) unless you are refering to the series 7 test.

Second, these contract are similar to the Anquan Boldin situation in Arizona. You sign a rookie deal(after all you are a rookie) and in your first year you win Rookie of the year, and are considered the top 10 at your position. Shouldn't your contract be renegotiated? If not then there is no reason to outperform you contract until the last year so you can go somewhere else and get paid for your skills.

[/quote]   Great Analogy. You have to put yourself into the best position possible. Especially when the company can dump you at anytime. There is nothing stopping Jones from just cutting every single advisor under 3 years and distributing those assets to Vets.

Roadhard- not only did I read the contract I kept a copy of it for my records. When I spoke with the Jones Lawyer about leaving the company he said I was the first person to call him directly and the only person he has spoken to that had a copy of the contract.

Jones is NOT for everybody!! And the training they provide is very different by individual because they don’t have real trainers in the field. My so called field trainer was going out to St Louis near the end of my field training stint to learn HOW to be a field trainer.

Jones has hired a lot of new people recently and I know from experience that parts of the country are not able to handle the training needs of the new hires. The contract is a two way street. I promise to work my ass of and put the time and effort in but Jones has a responsibility to each and every individual to make sure they have the proper training and experience to be in front of clients helping with their precious financial future!!

My trainer never came on an appointment with me and my pre-appt case work was useless. His response to most things was to “get out and door knock some more”. Nice guy BAD trainer!!

In talking to others in my situation in my state this is not an uncommon occurrence. These guys have their own practice to build and they don’t get compensated to work with us. As was pointed out to me a number of times by my trainer.

Jones has a lot of positives going for them but they do need to focus on how they train new hires in certain areas where they are not as well established.

I personally am doing quite well with my new company and I’m happy I made the change.

Not everyone is a LOSER that leaves Jones.
