We all know the business is hard, especially for young guys, but we’ve all also heard about some success stories as well.  Most people don’t have what it takes, but we all like to think that we do.

Just because something is difficult beyond belief, doesn’t mean it’s impossible.  An FA I was talking to at UBS was telling me about a 27 year old guy at one of the other offices in the area who pulled in over $100 million AUM just that year.

I know the odds of that are like winning the lottery, but we create our own odds in life.  A lot of today’s NBA players got to where they are by dreaming about being the next Michael Jordan.

That being said, anybody have some good stories to share?

Yeah. Everybody has a story… That kid who brought in 100M has a story… The important thing to realize is that good things happen in this business and you just need to be aorund long enough for it to start happening to you…

The important thing to realize is that good things happen in this business and you just need to be aorund long enough for it to start happening to you...

Seems like that IS the story. All of us stuck around  to make it happen. Also, it seems like in a lot of different kind of sales jobs, if you "get lucky" in your first year, the odds of sticking around are greater.

Since this career is more than a sales job, you have to create some of your own luck. Sometimes, that takes more than a year.
